It is hard to articulate after seeing this. These folks claim to be a Baptist Church but the stuff this woman spouts is twisted and perverted.
Is she really saying that God Hates?
Did you see the children that they had out there holding those hate signs? Those poor kids being taught to hate like that in the name of God.
How many people will be turned away from the true message of Christ because of people like these?
If anyone wants to share the true gospel with these folks here is the info. I will admit that I felt strong anger when I saw this but people like this cant be reached through anger, in fact I believe that they thrive on it so please if you contact them no hate mail. Love and true faith is the way.

This group is well known sadly enough.
-
Wow. Amazing. I mean, not amazing in the same way that those who saw Christ do what He did were amazed, but amazing in a completely different way. Makes you feel good to be Baptist, don't it?
-
She makes you understand why there are laws against marriage between relatives. This group is a small vocal, family run group that spouts hate and harms the cause of Christ.
Bro Tony -
I wish people would just ignore the stupid Phelpseses so they would disappear into well-deserved obscurity.
-
The problem with that wish is that the world would much rather see "Baptists" like Phelps than the Baptists than those who share the gospel and truth of God's commands with gentleness.
The Phelps caricature makes a much better case for those who would accuse us of "homophobia" for declaring God's truth. -
She is disgusting! Righteous indignation is what I am feeling right now...
No wonder churches are taking the name "Baptist" off their doors....
If only she was the only nut case calling herself "baptist", but sadly there are others out there that are nuts also... (albeit, I think this cult takes the cake!) -
I could do alot of comparisons with her church and people on Baptist Boards. But i won't.
"LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE" -

-
I saw that comming, that ok it's true what i said can't change that.
-
This church may have some good convictions.
But it has the wrong tactics and the wrong methodology.
"Let everthing be done decently and in order."
Jesus said: Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

The Michigan Senate is close to passing a bill to prohibit protesting at funerals. The Michigan House has passed the bill and sent it to the Senate. The Governor promises to sign the bill into law.
Unfortunately, it won't come fast enough. Michigan has two funerals scheduled for Servicemen this weekend, and Phelps and his fools are scheduled to make appearances at both services.
A bill to make it a Federal Law to protest at funerals is advancing thru the legislature as well. -
How true that actions like the Phelps' taint the name of "Baptist". And we also are cariacatured in a variety of other ways. I have noticed in The Washington Post that when a "lively" funeral is reported -- as for a victim of crime -- the reporter will speak of some pastor's "booming Southern Baptist voice". Usually, for one thing, that means southern with a small s, not the SBC denomination; and it always suggests loud, overbearing, emotional, and out of control.

Shouldn't what they are doing be protected as free speech?
-
Where the heck do these yahoos get the money to do this? Do they only travel on weekends?
-
I did some more reading on these folks and apparently they are not allowed to marry outside the church. 80% of the church is composed of their family members. I am sure you can see where this is going. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Members_of_Westboro_Baptist_Church
There is a difference between stating homosexuality is wrong and waving signs that say "The only dead fagot is a dead fagot." Just like someone can oppose the war without rejoicing at the death of soldiers.
It is right and I believe the Lord requires to oppose things on moral grounds but I also believe that we must do so with love and conviction. To do so through hate is sinful and counter productive. -
-
You continue to make inflammatory remarks. Are you just wanting attention? Would you say such things to peoples faces at church?
The Phelps cult hates gays, hates our soldiers, pickets the funerals of our service people who died in the war, and say that God is doing it. I don't think that applies to anyone on this board, probably not even including you.
Why don't you just lay out your agenda instead of constantly insulting people and acting in a general anti-social manner? -

Disrupting worship services is already illegal. Isn't that much of a stretch.
