The evil, apostate Westboro "Baptist" church of Fred Phelps is at it again!

Also, these idiots plan protests in nearby WV, in Charleston, about 50 miles from my home, to carry signs saying "Thank God for dead miners". They carried such signs at a memorial service at Sago Mine, where 12 miners died in a Jan. 2, 2006 accident. There have been comments posted on the Huntington newspaper's web site, calling for violence against the phelpsies. I have written several comments calling for just SHUNNING & IGNORING them, as several of them are perfectly willing to become martyrs for their twisted "causes".
A while back, I wrote about their protest in Huntington, about 2 blox from my work site, and how the news media didn't give them one worda coverage on TV, radio, or print, & the pedestrians treated them as if they were utility poles, not speaking to them, looking them in the eye, & just stepping around them, (The phelpsies were under police orders to not interfere with pedestrian or vehicular traffic in any way.) until they became angry, tossed their signs into their vans & headed back west. I hope the same happens elsewhere in WV.
Let us pray for a favorable Supreme Court decision in the Snider case. These jerks should NOT be allowed to disrupt any funeral; to me this is past the limits of free speech.
They call themselves BAPTISTS?

From the news link:
:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: -
When a local Marine was KIA and coming home for burial, Westboro made rumblings to show up. The local Sons of God motorcycle club let it be known that they would not be welcome. The local chapter of the Limited Few also joined the stand and was waiting. The entire funeral procession route was lined with people who would have (to use the phrase that best describes it) "would have stomped them a puddle in their backside and walked it dry". Westboro quietly decided not to come after all.
Too bad. :D
People like this are a blight to the name of Christ and a disgrace to Christianity in general. -
Truthfully, people like this are not Christians.
They show only the fruit of their father, Satan. -
People like this are a disgrace to our nation, a reproach to the ministry of Christ, and a dishonor to the Baptist denomination.
-
And of course, the left is quite happy to link us all with those weirdos. And the news media is often happy to accommodate.
-
Westboro is the one thing that makes me actually wish Baptist was a denomination. Then we could sue the pants off of them to get them to change their name :).
-
The thing is, in the public eye they represent us, and all of christianity. I read a few pages on facebook, and people think we're all like this.

Maybe we should counter-picket...not saying anything, but holding up the famous picture of the feller with his head firmly ensconced up his gluteals.
That's a fairly accurate description of these cretins. -

We argue in here amongst ourselves, but I know we stand united on this topic.
How could we force them to strip the name of "Baptist" off of their church? Does anybody have their address? I would love to write to
them and quote some scripture to them. -
If somehow we could cut off the publicity machine to these morons, and have them be ignored...they'd dry up and evaporate in a New York minute.
These goons, and those like them, thrive off publicity. I wish they never got any. -

I am a little bit worried with this. Westboro baptist acting like idiots, Hutaree claiming to hold christian values yet planning to kill law enforcement, Catholics with child abuse scandal, Andrea Yeates is associated with a Pastor, Peter Woroniecki, whom the media partly blames for Andrea's actions because of his "fundalmentalist position", Pat Robinson saying Haiti deserves destruction because of a pact with the devil, "fundalmentalist" Mormons forcing children into early marriage, Christian churches united against health care bill because of abortion language, against planned paranthood, against giving out condoms in high school, and many more such similar things happening. At some point when will the government consider that all "fundalmentalist" are the enemy of the state? And lump a whole grouping of people together to inlcude baptist. When will there be a conserted effort to wipe out all those involved with what the government considers fundalmentalist? I think its on our door step. Already all christians are considered "crazy". I think our country once famed for religious tollerance and freedom could be the first to persecute those it considers antagonistic to itself and have those people who whold specific theological points of view.

Kind of ironic isn't it. While this pathetic group of individuals (those of you calling this a church are way off base) embraces the name Baptist, many local Baptist congregations all across the country are either down playing the name, or taking it out the their name altogether.
Maybe they retain the name because they have pot lucks and don't dance.
