When my oldest son was a baby, I went on a "tourist" vacation. I saw the Redwoods, Crater Lake, Yellowstone, the Tetons, Black Hills, then home. I thought it was nice, but overrated. There are so many more places to go that are better.
I think the most beautiful city is Vancouver, BC. The dirtiest city is NYC. The only time they sweep the streets is when a movie is being made. Orlando is probably the most remarkable, mainly because of the plants.
Dr. Bob, doesn't Milwaukee, or Minneapolis count? -
I picked either where I really wanted to go or was going this next year.
-
The choices given (20) were among the TOP 30 in the scientific survey. Certainly not all MY choices!
And I find it unreal that some of the TOP places (like top 5) have not been chosen by ANYONE so far! And a couple I just added to be "fun" are big sellers! -
Those visiting Seattle toway got just barely under
5 inches of rain, most of it falling in 2.5 hours. What
fun!! -
I picked were I have not been yet.
-
My vacation picks (other than Jerusalem and London)would be...
1. Yellowstone
2. Anywhere west of Billings, MT
3. Grand Canyon
4. Cambria, California
5. Monterey, California
6. Washington, DC -
You didn't include South Africa.
A wonderful place to go.
Also Corinth, Greece. Spectacular.

Dr Bob!
I can't beleive you left Ireland off of your list! ;)
It is fantastic! -
Sorry about leaving off those scenic tourist destinations like Pretoria or Belfast.
Really think they compare with Stockholm or Kuala Lampur? Everybody has their own tastes!
(The list was NOT original with me. They are the top tourist destinations, so decided by TOURISTS. Hello??!!) -
"Sorry" he says sheepishly . I realised that this was a pre-determined list after my post.
Wasn't thinking of the industrialised North of Ireland. Was thinking of the beautiful Ring of Kerry and other scenic spots. Wow!! -
Hey, leave Northern Ireland alone! The Giant's Causeway isn't industrialised, nor the Fermanagh lakelands, the beautiful Glen's of Antrim that inspired Johnny Cash's "Forty Shades of Green, etc. Northern (Not North of) Ireland is beautiful, and as far as cities go Belfast is one of the most beautiful in these islands - better than Dublin by far IMHO.
Ulsterman -
Was wating for your reply Ulsterman ;) . Those places you described do indeed add to the beauty of the island, and I agree with your comment about Dublin.
The whole island is a thing of beauty. Just stay away from the cities ;) . Can say that now that I got Ulsterman's response!
Ireland, all 32 counties, is worth the visit. -
Answers on Friday evening!
Still time to make your picks  -

Odd that NO ONE in our poll chose San Diego. BTW, I chose Honolulu, too! -
hello Ulsterman! My family and i just visited N. Ireland in June and we did go to the Giant's Causeway and drive through the glens of Anthrim. Indeed, it was beautiful and the green-ness of all the rolling hills is firmly fixed in my mind.
But most of all, were the friendly folk we met and formed friendships with, that is the dearest thing i love about Ireland. -
Did you meet any of the Irish Amish while you were there? They live around Waterford.
-
ah no.... we only spent about three nights there.

You know I'm not much of a city person at all. When I travel it's to the natural wonders not to big cities. The only city on either list I would like to see is Jerusalem.
