Oh yes they do, just ask a soldier in theater, what he thinks of the leftist rhetoric back home. By standing up publicly for the leftist Democrats, who have a totally vested interested in our military's defeat, you are standing against our troops.

"The biggest red herring in this debate is the constant innuendo that those who don’t support expanding the war are somehow opposing the troops. It’s nothing more than a canard to claim that those of us who struggled to prevent the bloodshed and now want it stopped are somehow less patriotic and less concerned about the welfare of our military personnel." - Congressman Ron Paul

From the troops perception, you are steadfastly against them. The continual attack on our President and his war on terror has the troops fearful of the nations abandonment of them and their efforts. You can lie to yourselves and everyone else all you want, but your ultimate goal is the destruction of GWB and the only tool you have is vested in the loss of this war on terror, and you know it, and so do the troops. Why else are leftist politicians greeted so coldly by troops they are visiting?

Even the President's own daily briefings do not support the report that the surge is "working." Only about a third of the surge troops have even arrived in Iraq. More bogus reports from laughably inaccurate sources.
Aside from that, the Taliban is resurging in Afghanistan, which is where the real war on terror should be focused. However, because we are tying down so many of our forces, we can't help the genuinely democratically elected government of Afghanistan, nor go after the real terrorists.
For those of you who believe that "the troop surge is working," I have oceanfront property in Arizona and a bridge in San Francisco that I would like to sell you, cheap, for cash up front. -

Note also that a majority of the troops there think it's time to set a date to pull out.
So it's laughable that anyone would think forcing them to stay there longer is "supporting" them. -
