    See, that wasn't so bad.

I do not support the KKK, Nazis (neo or paleo), communists, any group that seeks to divide the nation over race, or any group that believes in the superiority of any race.

But these groups have the right to peaceably assemble.

Is your nation not equipped to quell an uprising? Or are you afraid that they are like 1930s Germany?

You'll find that we waged a pretty successful war against terrorism in Northern Ireland from 1969 to 1997 that forced the terrorists to the negotiating table and to renounce terrorism.

The other difference is that the far right are not armed here unlike in your country. Thus they are not such a threat to our democracy.

So you left it to the professionals? Good thinking. Sending a group of masked vigilates probably wouldn't have worked.

As far as it goes over here, I reckon if the Nazis and KKK decide it's time to get it on, the proper authorities would be able to handle it without intervention from communist antifa groups. They would probably only escalate things.

We wouldn't have let the far right come armed to the party in the first place.

2&4, possibly 3, were violated by the Nazis.

I haven't watched any footage. Did anyone record the first punch being thrown?

If it was just them standing in the square, I don't see how it would have turned violent. It takes two to tango and all.

Both sides got what they wanted.

This article was behind a paywall but Tim is right - fascism is anti-capitalism AND anti-Marxism. It was supposed to be a "third way", a compromise between the two.

Mussolini, the grand daddy of fascism, was a former Marxist and this is the way he defined fascism: nothing outside the state, everything in the state, nothing against the state. Hitler took fascism, added a racial element and turned it into Nazism, which is pretty much a dead philosophy to most.

Jake Tapper's Twitter feed is gathering evidence of Antifa attacking journalists. I won't link to it on account of the language one of the reporters uses.

Judge for yourself from these accounts of people who were actually there:

What the “Alt-Left” Trump Despises Was Actually Doing in Charlottesville Last Weekend

These are the 'alt-left' whom you President blames in part for the violence. I see ordinary folks being defended from fascist violence in these accounts. Ordinary normal people. That's kind of the point isn't it: 'anti fascist' is or should be pretty tautalogous in that, unless you're a Nazi yourself, your default setting is or should be anti-fascist. At Charlottesville, from the evidence presented by these eyewitnesses, Nazis fought against 'normal people'.
