So, ummm...as I'm checkin' out the KJV Debate between Will and Jason, I remember something I saw awhile back...the resurgence of Tyndale.

William Tyndale was both a scholar and a martyr for Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church hated him, and his work. For some time Tyndale was able to elude capture by the Catholic, but finally they caught him and threw him into prison, and tried him for heresy. They gathered as many of his Bibles as they could find and burned them. Then they burned Tyndale himself at the stake. Tyndale's sole purpose in life was to get the Word of God in the hands of the English speaking Bible, which he succeeded to do. But he paid that price with his life.
The world owes to Tyndale a debt of gratitude. It was from his translation of the Bible, and the work that he did, that laid the foundation of the KJV and most other translations that followed.

Tyndale is the first translator
to translate God's name as "Iehouah"
in an English Bible.
Tyndale also appears to be the first translator
to translate God's name as LORD
[in capital letters]
in an English Bible.
Did Tyndale ever explain
why he used the translation "LORD" for God's name?
A second Question:
Is Tyndale the first translator
to translate Yehoshua's name as "Ioshua"
in an English Bible?
