I'm not talking about soccer. This is not a thread about soccer. It is about the US soccer team's poor behavior.

You wrote - and I quote: “It will be a cold day in "you-know-where" before I ever care about the sport of soccer.”

Wingman68, upon further reflection, I apologize for my remark.

Yes and if this were a thread about the sport of soccer, I would not be in it. But this is not that kind of thread. It is about the poor behavior of the US Soccer team.

So what happens when transgender women (biological men) take over women's athletics?

I won’t care about pay structures because I won’t be watching.

That’s right sir. It’s all down to basic economics: demand and supply. The world comes to a stop during World Cup but few bother with women’s World Cup.

Just for the sake of accuracy, military members in combat get paid more than other military members not in combat. Those in combat receive combat pay. Those in hazardous situations, but not active combat, receive hazardous duty pay. I was a crew member on RC-135 recon aircraft and received both hazardous duty pay on some missions as well as flight pay.

The town I grew up in (Kearny, NJ) is a soccer hotbed. It has produced world cup team players like John Harkes, Tony Meola, and Tab Ramos. I was never very good at soccer but followed it closely. I used to attend NASL games back in the 70's. I saw Pele's last game when he played one half for the Cosmos and one half for Santos, Brazil. It is a great sport but in this country, it will always be a second tier sport behind football, basketball, and baseball. Even hockey is not a first-tier sport anymore unless you are in a strong hockey town.

    Sorry for the rabbit trail.

What, in your opinion, is USSF's responsibility to make up the pay difference caused by FIFA's sexist system? Given that USSF has a limit on the fund with which they have to work - basically a zero-sum situation - seems like the only way they could do that would be to cut the men's pay scale. If some folks make $10/hour and others make $20, is $12/hour for all a sensible solution? (Closer to the bottom in this hypothetical example due to the huge difference in World Cup bonuses.)

Stomping on the flag appears to me as a narcissistic way of expressing their contempt for the current administration, and perhaps also for the 300-plus million ignorant schmucks back at home. Not treason, just selfishness with a dash of stupidity.

Men's World Cup generated $6 billion in revenues; participating teams shared $400 million of this revenue, or 7%.
Women's World Cup generated $131 million in revenues, participating teams shared $30 million of this revenue, or 23%.

Revenue Disparity Explains Pay Disparity Between Soccer World Cup's Men And Women

Hmmm....men get 7% of the total revenue pie. Women get 23% of the total revenue pie. Fair?

I think we will, unfortunately, see more of this type of thing. This seems to be excelling.
