I just finished "Pacific Glory" by P. T. Deutermann. Absolutely awesome. It's an action thriller set in the WWII navy.

Some graphic violence and sexual content, not for kids, but a great read for adults. Historically accurate with well documented research.

Deutermann is becoming one of my favorites.

    The Road
    by Cormac McCarthy

This is what I call a "beach read"; a book that's easily read in one sitting on a day at the beach.

A post-apocalyptic genre book with little good to say about man and his achievements, until the last page when death comes and hope arrives.

The book was well received by many, personally I wasn't impressed.

We already read plenty about bible whines here on the BBoard. :tongue3:

    Picked up this one up yesterday;

HUMILITAS; A Lost Key to Life, Love, and Leadership
    by John Dickson

He thought of titling the book, "Humility and How I Achieved It", them providing glowing reviews of it, all written by himself ...but thought otherwise.

Make sure that you read one of the works that refute Ehrman also. Otherwise, you could end up in the same spiritual morass that is Ehrman's domain.

This is a good "contra" read:

Misquoting Truth: A Guide to the Fallacies of Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus," Timothy Paul Jones

The Almost True Story of Ryan Fisher by Rob Stennett.

Story of a real estate agent that finds instant success when he puts an ad in the Christian Business Directory. He then starts attending a non-denominational mega-church in order to do personal networking. Finally, he figures with his marketing savvy and personal charisma he can plant his own church. Never mind that he's not even a Christian.

I started it last night and was up past midnight. I think I read more than half the book. It's a somewhat satirical look at the modern church movement with interesting characters.

    Just Finished Convict Lake....

....A True Story of Heartbreaking Heroism and Tragedy...

This is a fantastic book written by Richard Mallard about a true event that took place over the Presidents Day holiday in 1990.

I was the lead investigating analyst for the State of California Department of Social Services/Community Care Licensing, and my initial findings led to the closure of that facility and years of ongoing litigation.

This true story is an absolutely fascinating book, and I'm sure it will not only move you to tears, but respect for the four men who sacrificed their lives to rescue the teens from the boy's home visiting Convict Lake that fateful morning.

You can find out more about the book at: https://www.createspace.com/3680227
