in the last little while...
Acappella--"Nobody but Jesus" (incredible negro spiritual "jazzed up" sans instruments)
Promise Keepers' Band: "I Will Boast" and "I Am Free"
(two songs our youth band, youth choir, and Sunday AM band will be doing..."I Am Free" has a piano lead that will likely kill me. It's been nice knowing ya'll). -
Wal-Mart Union Gonna Rise Again - Charlie King and Karen Brandow
-
Dr. Dog - "We All Belong"
Interesting band. Beatles and Kinks influences all around.
"Old News" sounds like something Paul McCartney and Wings might have recorded in 1976 and "Weekend" sounds just like "Double Fantasy"-era John Lennon. Quite a bit of Brian Wilson in there, too. "Worst Trip" sounds like it could be a lost track from the Beach Boys, recalling Brian Wilson's golden days.
All of these influences, and they're still their own band. -
Morning train - John Prine
-
Jeremy Camp "Empty Me"
