I agree with Ken. If you want to donate to a worthy organization that cares about animals objectively, the Humaine Society is VERY worthwhile.

Now that some sense has come into the thread, the Humane society is more than a worthwhile charity.
-
HSUSA is useless--doesn't operate one shelter.
Local Humane Societies vary in their usefulness.
PETA is opposed to utilizing animals for food, keeping them as pets, or keeping them in zoos and circuses. They're also a bunch of hypocrits. -
By the way...your comment in another post about "now that some sense has come into this thread..." was NOT good. I TRIED to have some sense and TRIED to have a rational discussion. It is NOT MY fault that you could not do so and I do NOT appreciate you trying to imply that it is! -
As for the others who posted...thank you for your answers. THAT is the kind of discussion I was hoping to have but a certain brother had to ruin it.
Johnv...I don't believe we can put plants and other life forms on the same level as animals...but that is just my opinion...if I am allowed to have one on this site. -
Here's a way you can help animals on a daily basis for free -

The truth is you have NO idead what Christ thinks about PETA. I don't accuse you of being unsaved, even though I EXTREMELY disagree with just about everything you say. So if you want to debate, knock it off.
Second, because I thought I answered your inquiry as to why I don't support them, but I apparantly didn't spell it out for you, PETA is a bunch of atheist, evolutionist, libby thugs. I wouldn't give them my used kitty litter.
I have posted scripture that I THINK says people in the last days will be intimidated into giving up something God graciously gave to us. It could be wrong, but I really don't think I am.
You have not posted an opinion yet, you just picked the first conservative statement and made an issue of it. You offer no scripture. Why is that ? -

Why is that ? </font>[/QUOTE]Hey...the reason I offered no Scripture was because I didn't think it necessary. I asked why people are against PETA...I only wanted to understand where they were coming from. Yes, you pointed your answer out to me. I just didn't like it. You did not back it up at all and when I questioned you to clarify, you still didn't expand on your answer and put me down. I wondered why you even bothered to post on this thread to be honest.
Maybe PETA intimidates people not to eat meat...I don't agree with them...I had mcdonalds today. I just think we should treat animals humanely...people have made fun of me for that and I am not going to apologize for it.
I don't "throw" Jesus Christ around and I'd appreciate if you don't accuse me of such. I have stated my opinion more than once and I did it in this very post as well. Now what do I say that you extremely disagree with everything? -
I have no idea what Jesus thinks of PETA eh? Well please tell me this...what does Jesus think of animals?
-
Bro.Curtis...basically by reading over your posts again I get the impression that you think I am a piece of trash; have taken absolutely no time to get to know me but have quickly passed judegment on me, etc. etc. etc. That is why I find it hard to get along with you. Sorry. :(
That is why I find it hard to get along with the FEW people on here that I don't get along with. I can work at it...but trust me...I am not the only problem. God bless. -

Local chapters of the Humane Society can ALWAYS use extra food and supplies.
That's a stinky thing to say, Bro. Curtis, LOL. -
PETA is lunacy surrounded by a “cause”. One can support the general cause but not the lunacy. The only message I get from PETA is the realization of how depraved and evil the human mind can be.

Seriously, though, I do agree with you about animals, but not out of any scriptural mandate (other than we're told to be responsible with God's creation). But I think the reason we human have more of an emotional connection with animals is because we humans also belong to the animal kingdom. Life forms belonging to the same kingdom tend to have a response of other lifeforms in that same kingdom, but often not lifeforms of other kingdoms. Interesting, huh?
BTW, for those keeping score, there are five kingdoms of life on earth: Animal, Plant, Fungi, Protist, and Monera. Animal, plant, and fungi are the most abundant. -

I don't know...I think we have an emotional attachment to animals because God gave Adam the privilege of naming them...I forgot what else I was going to say. It is after 1 in the morning and I have a funeral in 8 hours. sorry:( -
As a Christian, I like a lot of what PETA stands for. I don't like some of the more extremist actions done by *some* of its members though. Also, keep in mind that sometimes radical actions are done in PETA's name, when PETA as an organization has not endorsed or even knows about the action, let alone would approve of it. Opinions and views of members of PETA are probably as wide-ranging as Muslims or Baptists. ;)

Im curious to the serious conversationalists on this board, is it a true desire of yours to belong to many groups, general or specialty?
