Of course the church is not a building, but when we refer to the building itself, we often call it the church. Calling it "the building that the church meets in" seems to wordy. Referring to it simply as the sanctuary doesn't always work, as I spend the day in my office, not the sanctuary. I've tried just using the phrase "my office" or "the office," but that doesn't reflect the spiritual dimension of spending the day in prayer, worship, and pouring over God's Word.
Is there a better word or phrase that you use to refer to the church building?
What do you call the church building?

We calls ours the Naas GAA :)

We call ours church. But that refers to the entire site. We meet in what I call the auditorium or worship center. -
We call it the church although I agree that it is not a completely adequate title.

Church... it is an proper definition of the word "church" in today's language.
Sometimes I add "Building".. but not often.
And for the life of me, I can't quit calling it "God's house".. although our bodies is actually God's house. But it has been so ingrained into me, that I can't quit. -
When a bulldozer or excavator tears it down it is called trash.
-
Plainer mennonite folks around here call it a "meetinghouse"..
-
We just call it church. As in "I'm heading to church", or "I have some work to do. I'm going up to church." (even though church is south of us - LOL).

Worship Center

After going back and re-reading the op, let me expand on my previous answer....
We call what many churches call the "auditorium" or "sanctuary" the worship center.
We call the office the office.
In general, we go to the church.
At times we refer to it as the church campus.
At times we refer to various buildings on the camput. "I am going to The Annex." "I am going to "The Barn." -
We meet at Centerstage. We used to meet at Actor's theatre.
-
We call ours a liability :)
-
I kind of like the idea of calling it the meeting house, though that sounds a little awkward to me (probably only because I'm not used to saying it). I think I'll give it a try and see if I get funny looks. Thanks!
