I don't hold to that, that was SFIC's view (and apparently DIDW) that got him banned

...and as SFIC, when confronted with a point blank "yes or no" question, you don't answer. Silence speaks volumes.

I am sorry I am confused. What is it that he suggested denies the deity of Christ?

It's apparent you don't spend much time on the BB, then.

...that "thou shalt not have any gods besides Me" does NOT apply to Jesus Christ. THAT is modalism.

    This Was Totally Uncalled For!

I am no particular fan of parts of the theology of many posters, current and former, active and inactive, in good standing and Banned, on the Baptist Board; I am even less of a fan of any unsubstiantiated charges that amout ot nothing more than speculation and/or guess-work may implicate another, falsely!

Thumbs down on this one, Joe! :(

While it is cllearly wrong, how does it tie into modalism? I am not arguing You could be right. I just do not see the connection.

The only problem I had with him and her was that they elevated their opinion of God's word as the only way. Then judged the rest of us that didn't agree with them as lost. There are tons of opinions here, some right, some wrong. Mine included. But, to say that people are lost or not right because of not agreeing with said opinion is what apparently got them in trouble, and rightfully so.

As you read, three of us noiced the uncanny similarities which appeared between you and SFIC. Apparently, there is a reason.

    1. You both went to the same church at the same time
    2. You both hold to signature lines which oppose alcohol
    3. Now you say you spoke with SFIC already on the phone concerning their Ban which explains your posts suddenly appearing in that thread and why you chose this particular day, after 10 months, as your sudden comeback (posted in the introductions forum).

    Thank you for the explanation

It is separating Jesus from the Father. When I asked him point blank if we can have other gods besides Jesus he clammed up. SFIC stated that command did NOT apply to Jesus. That is why I believe he was banned (I might be wrong though).

Modalism in no way separates Jesus form the Father. In fact it takes that idea to far and insists that there are not three distinct personalities in one God. But the same single personality works in different modes rather than personalities.

Exactly! Which is why I say if one goes back and reads the Is It Fair thread, one will see that sfiC was not teaching modalism. He clearly states that he believed in the Trinity and the deity of Christ. I have seen far worse being taught and allowed to continue in the threads I have scanned through today than what sfiC is accused of falsely. Members being allowed to teach such heresies as Mary is the mother of God, abortions are ok up to a certain age, etc., with no apparent discipline whatsoever. Sure looks like sfiC was singled out for his convictions.

    *hijack of a hijacked thread*

I think Johnv was already married when he posted here. He once posted a link to pics of his Star Trek themed wedding. When you have a Star Trek themed wedding, your geek status goes to infinity, which is a good thing.

I still remember a post of his that made me laugh out loud and gave us a little bit too much information about something that I can't go into. I couldn't believe somebody would say what he said on a board like this. I hope he's doing well and that he comes back sometime.

    * returning you to your regularly scheduled hijack*
