What is a child worth?

Not much protection, it seems, in the justice system.

This man admits molesting a child, starting when she was six. He says she wanted it. He blames her. Over a hundred times, so he gets 12 months in prison.

This man stole from Wal-Mart and assaulted an employee when confronted. He got three years in prison. His partner, who didn't assault anyone, received four months.

Pretty pathetic. People like to tell kids to speak out against abuse, but more and more, courts hand kids to their abusers, or hand out light sentences and kids still live in fear. If they get the nerve to bring it up as adults, think they are strong enough, then they quickly realize that what they feared all along is true.
Nobody really cares.

That's just life.

Interesting society we live in. The truth about what REALLY happens when someone discloses this type of abuse is a far cry from what people think and are told will happen, even, as you can see, when the criminal admits to the crime.

Hear, here!

In my world, you harm a child, you never see the light of day again.

I agree completely! As far as I am concerned, rapists and molesters do not spend enough time behind bars. The harm they do is for a lifetime, and their criminal act should be be the same, a lifetime behind bars.

Of course this is also true with manslaughter, especially DUI's that result in the death of another.

Six or seven years is not nearly enough time for the life they took from those that loved that person!

Our laws are some of the best ... but the penalities leave a lot to be desired!

That works for me. Unfortunately, we seem to have too many bleeding-heart people (including judges) who feel sorry for the criminals and blame the victims. Of course, the rapists and child molesters always blame the victims.

Since these perverts aren't killed as they should be, the alternative punishment should be that their genitals are cut off--with nothing to deaden the pain.
