What's your point?
Yes, the US is a Republic rather than a democracy because issues are decided by representatives of the people rather than a direct plebiscite.

I got one: Since a "republican" is one who (allegedly) supports a "republic", & since the Republican Party has gone off course, shouldn't the party change their name to something else other than Republican? Just a thought. It would make sense.
The definitions are very accurate.

That sounds about right especially considering how Congress & the Senate doesn't seem to properly represent us. They only seem to be looking out for themselves & promoting their own agendas.

Democracy and Republic is a matter of semantics. The foundation and principles of each are identical.
What is wrong with Russia? Millions of Russians love their country.

Its more than semantics!
Democracy is a system where each man is able to have a direct vote
on each individual issue.
Actually some New England Towns still do that once a year .

OK, we have a representative democracy. We elect people to represent us.
Still, why are people on this list so unhappy with the people you elected to represent you?
