It doesn't necessarily have to be in print today, nor does it have to be in the funnies. Soem are just in the form of books now.

Bloom County! I miss Opus. :(
Calvin and Hobbes would be a close second.

Peanuts, without a doubt :D
Although i sometimes wish that Lucy wouldn't have pulled the football away from Charlie Brown, that the baseball team would have one alot more games, that Lucy wasn't such a grouch, that Sally would have left Linus alone, etc -

Tumbleweeds
Calvin & Hobbes
Broom Hilda
Hagar the Horrible
Wizard of Id
B.C. -
Peanuts, and then Garfield. When I get frustrated about something that is not important I tend to borrow a saying from Garfield ~ "Big Fat Hairy Deal" ;)
-
Ahh...someone else who borrows comic strip phrases? "Good Grief!" and "RATS!" have been exclamations from our family as far back as I can remember. In fact, someone I once knew said we were the only ones she knew that talked like the Peanuts Gang. [What people are missing!!]
As you can imagine, "Peanuts" has been one of my all-time favorites.
"Pluggers" are another one...I'm old enough now to be one!
"Dennis the Mennis"--ornery li'l kid that needed some discipline, yet was loveable all the same. (We visited the Dennis the Mennis playground in Monterey--fun!! The kids loved it.)
"Family Circus"--great!,even tho' it is written by a Catholic!
"BC" comes up with surprisingly Christian messages occasionally (I know he's religious, don't know if he's Christian or Catholic).
A couple of the more recent ones that deal with the family are good (sorry, can't remember their names...only on my 3rd cup this morning & it hasn't cleared all the fog yet!! LOL)
I loved "Brenda Starr" as a teenager.
Aside from the Bible, instructional/devotional books about the Bible, and an occasional mystery or two, I think good comics rank high on my list of favorite literature! ;)

Bloom County (I love Opus, too!), Calvin and Hobbes (almost immortal), and now, Dilbert.
I enjoy the roar when Hart does a religious strip. My favorite, and I have it on the fridge, is last year's easter one, when he had one that had the last sayings of Jesus, with the Mennorah, but pointing to Jesus. Zowie. -
I don't get he paper with the funnies anymore, I only read them now at mom's.
B.C.
Garfield -
Calvin & Hobbes

Calvin & Hobbes, Far Side, B.C., Peanuts, Dilbert, Garfield, Bloom County. The ones in Leadership magazine are a hoot too!

Calvin and Hobbs and Shoe (OK, it's an occupational hazard.)
Katie: Please subscribe to your local paper! How else will we ink-stained wretches continue to bring home the bacon? ;) -
rsr--this coming from someone who doesn't subscribe to the paper. This is what we always tell our local paper when they call. "We only take the paper when we beat our neighbor home"
Actually, since my Grandfather lives next door, we share with him. -
Calvin and Hobbs
Family Circle
Baby Blues
For Better or Worse
and I grew up collecting comic books like:
X-men
Spiderman
Superman. -
LOVE For Better or Worse seems to reflect a lot of things going on in our family. And Mallard Fillmore is also a hoot.
HATE Cathy. And Doonesbury has been moved from the funny pages to the editorial because of its liberal content.
But grew up with Katz'njammer Kids . . .

Born Loser...(sometimes I relate)
Andy Capp....(he's all that's wrong with the world)

Wizard of Id....(The Peasants ARE revolting!)
Too many to mention...but these top the list.
And For Better or Worse! :D -
Far Side
Pogo
Dilbert
Calvin and Hobbes -
Ziggy and B.C.
da Gina -
I was at work, in my cousin's classroom, and I said something. Her comment was "big fat hairy deal" I thought I was going to fall over from laughing. She has the same saying as I use. :D

Calvin & Hobbes, definitely Calvin & Hobbes.
The hilarious things Calvin does with snowmen! -
Calvin and Hobbes--my favorite is when Hobbes becomes real... and picks at Calvin. I miss them.
