Oh, one more thing: I don't want this to become a debate, there are plenty of other threads for that!
I'm halfway between 3 and 4, so I voted 4. -
between 1 and 3. Read KJV daily.Really like the ESV, Just waiting for a good quality study Bible in that version to come out, something like the KJV Study Bible I hope.
-
NKJV preferred. Also like the KJV, NASB, ESV and CSB.
-
0 for me. I prefer a Bible in my own tongue.
-
Moique, how you gonna fit a Bible in your tougue?
-
0 for me,
I believe that the KJV is a very solid translation of its underlying texts -
Plain Old Bill
Tongue as in synonym for language. -
Mioque,
Lengua is really good in a burrito.

Could everybody please look the other way while I do my king David imitation on..err..for brother Lacy to show my appreciation for his punning skill.
(wanders off to gather sling and bullits) -
Don't hit him in the forehead. It's nigh impregnable. (Size 8,1/8 hat!)
Lacy's wife, Sande -
It's not my fault you can't get good Tex-Mex in the Netherlands.

I'm probably #2 leaning towards #3, but I do some reading in other versions.
mioque, what sort of Versions are currently available in Dutch? Are some better than others? -
-
I MUCH prefer the KJB to any other translation but I do not think it or its manuscripts are necessarily superior.
-
0 for me. I no longer prefer the KJV and certainly do not think the underlying Greek/Latin of 'Rasmus is superior to the totality of documents now available.
THAT makes me a "0" KJVonly and THAT makes me feel good!! -
Ditto Dr.Bob's statement here.
My wife has always said that I was of the scale...
In Christ,
Trotter -
"what sort of Versions are currently available in Dutch?"
"
The NBV a new ecumenical translation that recently got presented to her majesty the queen.
The Statenvertaling of 1637 the Dutch AV.
The NBG Vertaling of 1951, untill recently the default Protestant Bible in my country.
The Willibrord Bible, the official RC translation of the Netherlands and Flemish speaking Belgium.
The Groot Nieuws Bijbel similar to Good News for Modern Man.
The Jehovah's have ofcourse translated their own Bible from English into Dutch.
"Are some better than others?"
"
Sure. The JW's Bible version is rather atrocious, but the first 4 I mentioned are all first rate translations (even if one disagrees with the theological hangups some of their translators must have had). -
I have a problem finding myself on the scale as well.
I would probably be best described as a qualified 2.5 because of the statement
While the NASB based upon the critical text is generally a superior translation in many passages to the NKJV, the TR is the underlying text of the NKJV, so I would go with the NKJV.

What? No number 10? That leaves me out! What is a Number 10 you want to know?
A Number 10 is anywhere on the scale at any given time but most definitely would never at any given time stand with a guy who wears a bowtie.
