I can honestly say I have never heard that view, nor do I think it makes any sense. Did Christ accomplish something? I think so. He died for a purpose. To atone for the sins of those who would believe in him.
What verses say that faith is a gift that God gives man?

Gal 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Justification comes first and with out faith we have nothing to be justified for. Certainly not works.
I admit that it is by God's will that i'm saved yet He would not have saved me with out my faith in Him. That means I was willing as well. This is why I call it a relationship between God and me. Now your going to tell me my faith had nothing to do with it. but Eph. 2:8 says it does.

God does it all for you, MB. He graciously does it all because you can't do it. And if you could, you would boast about it.
Paul wrote to the Galatians to refute those who thought they needed good works to remain saved.
God has given you faith. Praise Him for that gracious blessing to you. -

Mat 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him? -
Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Luk 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. -

God the Father gives us the Gift of Faith when we ask Him. Otherwise, mortal men would claim all the credit for themselves. Amen? -

You keep saying that "my God hates people unconditionally", and I keep telling you that there is a condition that He hates them for.
When are you going to acknowledge that?
The condition is sin, and man's unwillingness to repent.
What's more, we hate Him.
He doesn't do my understanding of God's word for me. -
Philippians 1:29
For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake
Belief in Him (Jesus) has been graciously given (χαρίζομαι) to us.
