Must be a Saturday thing! We had pumpkin french toast.
Tomorrow's plan is spaghetti.

Busiest birthday ever. 3 parties in 3 days. White cake with chocolate icing, homemade banana pudding, blizzard cake and mom made a chocolate cake with heavy white frosting. Much ice cream. I need some veggies!!
Steamed broccoli (spelled without looking it up), squash and zucchini (had to look it up) on the menu tonight! -
I'm working on the week's menu and think I'll just bail to spaghetti and meatballs for tonight. I made the meatballs last week so it won't be totally a pantry meal. :)

My Wife and Grandkids said they were hungry for a Turkey Dinner, so tonight is:
Roast Turkey and Stuffing; Chef's Salad; Mashed Potatoes and Gravy; Cranberry Sauce; Green Bean Casserole; and Pecan Pie for dessert. -
One of my girls never learned to cook beyond basics, so now I'm teaching her the intricate details - last night we made:
Cornish game hens (how to handle poultry, brining and why or why not, various methods of cooking whole chickens, different seasonings, what is salmonella, etc.)
Roasted potatoes (can any part make you sick, timing when using multiple pans in an oven, types of oils)
Coconut saffron rice (why are some spices so expensive, all about saffron, flavor blending, how color and scent add to appeal)
It's different but fun to teach someone at this age rather than have them grow up doing it and just learning as they grow and do it with me, because the others grew up just following my steps without much explanation of stuff, just part of life. This is cool! -

Good for you, Gina. I wish I'd had somebody teach me the basics when I was starting out. Had to learn by trial and error.
Tonight is Honey Chipotle Ribs, Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, and Layered Turtle Cheesecake for dessert.
Had a bake sale/auction at church yesterday to benefit the Youth Group. I made a Raspberry & White Chocolate Cheesecake for the auction. -
Vegetable Barley Soup. Daughter quit her lesson for today after chopping the onion - decided the lesson should be that people shouldn't eat onions!
Dessert is spreading cheesecake filling on cinnamon graham crackers. Of course THAT is being eaten BEFORE the soup is done. :saint: -
