Do IFB churches believe Jesus burned in hell for 3 days? Or simply preached to the Old Testament saints in Abraham’s bosom?

I understand that Jesus was in the upper compartment of the Nether World/Hades/Sheol. Peter wrote, ". . .
he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing . . ." -- 1 Peter 3:19-20. And, ". . . the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. . . ." -- 1 Peter 4:6, refering to the sons of God in Genesis 6:2 who died in the flood.

The false belief Jesus was in hell 3 days came from the KJV's mistranslation of hades as 'hell'.

    Here are the "guilty" verses:

Acts 2:27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Acts 2:31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

In both verses, the KJV incorrectly renders 'hades' as 'hell'. I believe that's where the false doctrine concerning Jesus came from.

Jesus Himself confirms He was in hades in this verse:

Luke 23:43And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.

We know hades is divided into "torments" and "paradise" from Jesus' parable of the rich man & the beggar Lazarus, so there should be no doubt where Jesus was between His death & resurrection.

If Jesus preached for 3 days in “hell”, my guess is He spent 3 days at 20th Century UCLA Berkeley.

No; it's because SCRIPTURE says so, including the quote of JESUS HIMSELF I posted.

No. Did you know paradise was moved from the upper compartment of hell/Hades/Sheol to Heaven?

    Scripture, please!

Last I saw, Jesus spent the time between His death & resurrection in PARADISE; no such movement mentioned.

But He was certainly not in hell ! Again, that's a KJV mistranslation of HADES !

You have interpretation issues. When the KJV was translated, "hell" was a proper translation for Hades.

Jesus said to that man on the cross, "Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43. We know from prophecy Jesus soul was not left in Hades, Acts of the Apostels, 2:27. So at that time Paradise was a place in Hades. We also know Paradise was moved to Heaven based on the Apostle Paul's experience, 2 Corinthians 12:2-4. And the inerpretation is Jesus took the souls from the upper comartment of Hades to Heaven when Jesus ascended to Heaven at the end of His 40 days on earth after His resurrection, Ephesians 4:8. This with the understanding Abraham was in the upper compartment of Hades, where as the lost went to the lower compartment, as God revealed to Moses, Luke 16:31; Deuteronomy 32:22. With what seems like poor interpertation skills, I cannot expect you to understand this to be able to believe it.

All the more reason to use modern versions with today's definitions.

2 Corinthians has nothing to do with your guesswork. Speaking of interpretation, "caught up" means to become involved in something one didn't to become involved in. Paul didn't intend to be shown paradise, but God showed it to him. It does not mean that Paul was carried upward.

And we DON'T know where hades is. Most likely, it's another dimension.

But the main point is, to answer the OP's question, Jesus spent the time between His death & resurrection in PARADISE.

Jesus was in Paradise those three days which was at that time in the upper compartment of Hades. Where Abraham was as spoken of in Luke 16:19-31. Paradise was not in the third Heaven utill after Christ's ascension. You do not want to hear that truth, that iis fine by me.
