Because of the excellent references and marginal notes of the Thomas Nelson hard copy. There's some translation issues where I very much prefer KJV over the ASV. One big area being the debate between
'faith of Christ' vs. 'faith in Christ' .

I can honestly say, you are the first person I can ever remember saying the ASV is their version of choice.

I can honestly say I've used it since early 80s, probably because it's the version my most influential Bible teacher used. I've had two rebound over the years and my main one needs it again. I've got a 'like new one' stashed back in case it's needed. I believe for a while it was out of print but I see it can be bought on Amazon now.

Ok we need to talk!
REBOUND!!!! Where did you get that done, what type of binding? How much did it cost? AND were you scared to death to give it up while that was being done?
I have a precious Bible that my grandmother gave me when I was in elementary school that I need rebound but it scares me to death to get it done.

Post Tenebras Lux rebound my great grandfather's Bible this fall. They did a great job. It cost about $290 total for everything I had done.

We had a local Christian book store, Bethany Book Room, that would send books somewhere for rebinding. Now defunct.
How much did it cost?

These were hardbacks, wasn't too bad, < 50 bucks I think.
...funny you should ask that, I remember being anxious to get it back.

Rebinding is the way to go, if done by the right shop, as ends up giving you an Allen like bible , but not at their high end cost!

I think it's a shame that the ASV never caught on with the public.
I much prefer it to the KJV, and if "word for word" or "literal" is the mark of an accurate translation, I can think of no better (overall) choice than the ASV!

What is interesting is that the 1901 Asv was an Americanized edition of the British 1881 revised version!

Think 1977 revision of it, the Nas, was better!
