Michelle, Please explain how this scripture proves that the KJV is the "very words of God"... and if you can't, please stop twisting and abusing the Bible you claim to love and accept as your final authority. </font>
Still waitin'. </font>
You'll be waiting a long time, Scott. She cannot prove it has anything to do with the KJV, because she cannot "rightly divide the Word of truth". If she could, she would have done it by now. Instead she has used circular human reasoning to try and make her points. They are at best feeble attempts to prove anything.

Michelle: “The ignorance, sadly, is coming from those who feel they must turn to the Hebrew and Greek to try to prove the truth in our scriptures wrong.”

With me it was quite the opposite. As a new Christian, I was _excited_ to know that our English translations had come from the Hebrew and Greek, and one of my first purchases was a Berry’s Interlinear Greek-English New Testament. Why did I want such a book? Because, like a Berean of old, I “received the word with all eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so” (RSV), and I was not disappointed by making the comparison, even if I couldn’t read many Greek words and was heavily dependent on the lexicon in the back of Berry. But it was (and continues to be) a highly rewarding experience, and confirms my understanding of scriptural integrity far more than would have been the case had my pastor simply told me the Greek and Hebrew were now unnecessary and that I only needed to read his particular translation to get the only “perfect” representation of those ancient Greek and Hebrew words.

    Ziggy,

You stay with it brother. The Lord will bless you as you seek Him with your whole heart. He has given us so much in His precious Word and a deeper understanding can only enhance your relationship with Him, and your ability to relate His Truth to others.

    God Bless,

    Bro Tony

Although I do not speak Greek (or Hebrew, but I'm mainly oncerned with the Greek), I have learned to use the many study aids available today, and to a great profit in my own understanding.

Without any knowledge of Greek, the entire dialogue between Jesus and Peter in John 21 comes across as a nice addition, but it makes no sense. But, when I discovered that Jesus and peter were using different Greek words for love, and that Peter could not come up to what Jesus was asking, it began to click. And when, on the third time, Jesus switched to the lesser word that Peter was using, I suddenly saw why it broke Peter's heeart: Because Jesus was willing to come down to Peter's level and meet him there.

But, with finding that the Greek words were different, I would still be in the dark, and one of my best sermons would never have seen the light of day.

    In Christ,

By the way, Dr.Bob (and any others who may know), could you (y'all) recommend a Greek lexicon that is actually accurate (ie, not Strong's) that a poor man can actually afford? I have Strong's, Thayer's, and Vine's (yeah, not much for accuracy, but you get what you can afford).

    Thanks!

    In Christ,

Exactly, isn't God's Word beautiful. Isn't it great that He has made it possible for us to know exactly what he meant. PTL

    Trotter,

You can often get older editions of Bauer Arndt Gingrich Danker lexicon on E Bay or Amazon for pretty cheap. The older editions don't have some of the extra info that the latest edition does but they still serve well as lexicons - better than Thayer or Strongs.

Mounce is also good but I like BAGD

Since there are tow other threads running on the same general topic of the originals, and since this is on page five, I am going to close this one down.
