So Preacher... Now you have made me think of another question. What is the difference between being licensed and being ordained? Does one come from the State and the other from the Church?

You know I was always that kid in the back asking Why? Why? Why? :)

This year, I finally submitted to God and told him I would do whatever his will. I won't run and avoid anymore.

Here anyway, both come from the Church. Didn't understand then,& still don't completly. Course then I'm one of those who didn't go to school,(not putting it down) & it has cost me in getting to preach in some churches, I have a beard, of sorts, that has cost me too, & I don't wear a suit very often, thats cost me too. It's amazing come to think of it that I get to preach at all!!! Course one of my first times was in a Methodist Church! Yep....absolutly Amazing!!

Ordination as stated before, is for one who has been examined and have met the requirements of the local Church. You will preach many sermons before you get to this point. Mmany Churches will not ordain you until you are caled to pastor.

Here, the government recognizes you as being ordained if you preach to 2 or more people per week on a regular, steady basis.

In Tennessee, at least, licensing and ordination are both carried out by the church.
I am licensed by the church I used to attend, so I can marry couples (man and woman!). I don't think licensing or ordination is required for funerals here.
Maybe one day I will be ordained. God called me to preach, but He hasn't opened the doors yet. -

Yeah. Currently looking for a home church to attend. I've sorta ended up with a bum steer as far as opportunity goes. There's long story in there...
