And the Gospel is right out of the First Century! This thread right out of the 1950's. Goodness gracious.
Oh no Rolfe, just clearing the air.Hank, I certainly hope that you did not think that I was implying anything of a sort.
Cheers.
And the Gospel is right out of the First Century!
It's a good article.
Interesting.
So, in short, the argument above is that IF one (a female) fights (does contact sports) they are failing to recognize the “gender difference” and thereby are a temptation to homosexuals at the least? And not only that but some females who are homosexuals become fighters, therefore a female being a strong fighter is evidence that one is tempted to go down that road or is part of that dastardly failure to recognize the given standard of the “gender deference” in the “cultural war”?
I must have missed the part about how this “gender difference” must include a restriction of fighting for females has become the standard to judge by and how this idea of how one should behave, which frankly seems to beg the question, becomes a threat to a Christian’s sexual preference and being on the wrong side of the cultural war and maybe more of a concern why Christians should be a part of letting a few bad apples spoil, or scare them away, from any interest in contact sports for girls?
- Is it fair to say the conclusion of the argument is that Christians should “refuse to celebrate” women’s fighting as it is equal to celebrating homosexuality and joining on the wrong side of the cultural war?
What if I were to suggest that the author was “swimming against the flow of sexual difference” in his argument by my view of his being intimidated by female contact sports?
- Hmm, Just for the sake of argument, what if instead I were to conclude that men who are intimidated by female fighters as being too masculine of a trait were demonstrating their own lack of security, to which I further claimed should be the standard of “gender difference” for males to be manly men?
-
- On the same grounds, is it then fair if I were to conclude that insecure men in this area are generally “cultural war” sissies and this is a homosexual trait and therefore Christians should refuse to celebrate these insecurities when it comes to women’s contact sports?
How about if I make a statement like: A large number of of men who are insecure and act like sissies about women fighters have also come out as homsexuals? Does that help support my argument?
What if I were to say men who “share interests and personality characteristics beyond a common sexual orientation” meaning with females who are intimidated and insecure about fighting are “facilitating the formation of such subcultures” where this “gender nonconformity” leads to them having more in common with same-sex-attracted individuals who would unnaturally take an unhealthy interest in them for being Insecure girly-men rather than REAL MEN, at the least?
IOWs if I turn the Op argument around can I not give equal merit to a conclusion of: “WHY CHRISTIANS SHOULD REFUSE TO CELEBRATE BEING INSECURE ABOUT WOMEN FIGHTING” on the same type of question begging in regards to my view of “common sexual orientation” that real men aren’t intimidated by girls fighting???
...Just wondering how choosing sides on this issue became the correct Christian value in the "cultural war". ?
Well, for one, I see stereotyping and suggesting that a female interest in athletics and them earning some muscle in the process as having masculine traits to be more psychologically damaging and persuasive toward converting one to the wrong side of the fence than otherwise.Just wanted to say this was a fantastic response. You are good when you channel your intellect in this manner.

And the logic of the author in the article’s argument was pure junk…and I had nothing better to do at the time than to dissect it and begin exposing the errors. - which is a bit of a hobby of mine...![]()
Yes she is a believer. Her actions and words don't always reflect that.Hank (this has nothing to do with the OP) is your daughter a Christian? What a neat opportunity she would have to be the Light. If she is not...I am/will be praying.![]()
Praying now and continually!Yes she is a believer. Her actions and words don't always reflect that.
When she gets through with a fight she is always concerned about her opponent.
She did send one young lady to the hospital but she recovered from her injuries.
Pray nonetheless.
I really really want to see her out of the action. Teaching it - OK.
