Yes, he is...in a soft on crime, tax hiking, soft on illegal immigration kind of way.
Why hasn't Fred caught fire?

I do have to concede the point that FT is kinda boring. But I would still have thought conservatives would have wanted substance over style. Evidently not.

We should pass a constitutional amendment because no childr in america should ever be slaughtered Not even at the alter of states rights. This isn't an issue like economics, commerce, or even security. This issue has more weight than any other issue in America. The innocent lives of unborn children are being brought to a violent end daily because Americans have grown desensitized to the issue and treat it like any other political issue. We are talking about the lives of human being here. And yet many Americans want to place this in line with all the other political issues. What a sad commentary on our country. -
No one on this board condones abortion or wants one more baby slaughtered.
A Constitutional amendment will not pass with a Republican Congress and President. Case in point 2001-2006, What did this present President do other than give the issue lip service? Of course, there will always be your resident Republican apologists.
Since your idea obviously will not work, your advocating such a course while abortion goes on unabated is pathetic. Roe vs Wade will send the issue back to the states, abortion will decrease, and the battles within states are much easier to fight.
Do you have any understanding of our Constitution, and the balance of power between states and the federal level?
Its odd, your solution does exactly what you want to avoid, abortion on demand forever. -
People bemoan Fred's alleged lack of "fire." I guess I'm just not big into the Paris Hilton types. I would prefer substance over style. I guess I'm in the minority.

If you want a person running for president who thinks they will just die if the American public won't elect them as president, then you have your Clintons and Rudys out there. Personally, I like my candidates to have more emotional stability than that. Fred has a vision and believes in it. But he doesn't seem so power hungry that he must be the king. I find that reassuring. But again, I'm a different breed, I suppose. -
I have liked quite a lot of Thompson's substance. That's probably why he is not doing so well in today's Big Government Republican Party.

Perhaps FT is positioning himself for a Veep position.
