The "swamp" needs to be defined. The definition of the "swamp" has changed over time. First it was unelected bureaucrats in Washington that were making policy. Then it was rich lobbyists influencing. Then it was RINOs. Now apparently it is incumbents.

    So, what is the swamp?

I see. So no one may have an opinion, or offer a course of action unless they have personally experienced the topic they are addressing.

My Dad, a Dem, and I, a Republican, agreed to both vote for Perot in lieu of cancelling one another's votes in 92. Perot had some good ideas but wouldn't have got anything done with the Dem congress.

To me, first hand experience is extremely useful. How can you ever really show empathy unless you've been there?

First hand experience is definitely useful. However, it's not necessary in order to understand a problem and empathize with people.

I was thinking more about the many Black Christians who knew thatPresident Obama by policy and agenda stood against most of their Christian faith practices, and yet felt compelled to vote for him just due to him being Black. In same fashion, the anti trumpers will just vore Dems to spite him period, even though the Dems being supported byt en are all pretty much anti biblical themselves!

Some may. But there are many reasons Christians may be "anti-Trump" without opposing Scripture (for example, they may oppose his economic policy, his character, his stance on immigration, his foreign policy, his stand on gun regulations, his view of the scope of the federal government, the extent he advocates capitalism.....etc).

Yes, but the common theme most are displaying seems to be just sheer hatred, due to us having the gall to actually elect him and not HIlliary president!

It's the club that people who serve in Washington are in. It is made up of politicians and people in the civil service positions. Politicians serve 30 years but that is still not enough so they run for re-election again and again and they then have a stranglehold on the system with all the wheeling and dealing that goes on. It's a sickening spectacle, but it is better than having a King or a Dictator.

Of course you will admit that without that experience you will most likely not know what you don't know.

Sure. But there can only be so much personal experience. Furthermore, there is experience and there is good judgment. I'd rather vote for someone with good judgment than experience. (And yes, I understand that good judgment partially comes with experience, but still...)

With all due respect, since both of those issues are matters settled by the courts as “rights”, do you really see a constitutional amendment in the near future to change either “abortion” or “gay rights”? If not, then you are voting based on the two issues that politicians are guaranteed not to be able to change. :Barefoot

This is how you justify voting democrat? These ‘rights’ are not written on a stone tablet. Look back to O’s first run in office his campaign stance was against gay marriage. Of course we know that was just to get elected so he could install his judges who can overturn the will of the people. We voted against gay marriage in Michigan, but why bother with even putting it on the ballot, when leftist judges can snatch it back to their outcome. Then the media dutifully from there forward makes it sound like settled law, like you just did.
