The thread itself shows the motive no assumption was made only facts. If someone is wrong about what the president will do it is obvious that starting a thread about it, when the issue is no longer in question, is just to be mean and stick a finger in their eye. Have some Christian charity and let it go.

Speaking of inauguration day falling on Sunday, private oaths, and all of that, here's a link to something that supposedly really took place right here in the good old US of A way back in 1849:

    http://www.senate.gov/art and history/history/President_For_A_Day.htm

NOTE: Urban legend has it that Rice was so tired having to deal with so many items of pressing nature in the US Senate that, when he finally got back home very late on Saturday, March 3, he collapsed into a deep sleep from which he didn't awaken until very late into Sunday, March 4. Thus, he slept through most of his supposed term of office as POTUS!!

(Maybe this republic might be somewhat better off if some of his "future" occupants of the office of POTUS would have followed Rice's example and have done the same during their respective incumbencies! ..........Just saying! :tonofbricks:)

Crabby has looked into the soul of this baby killer and determined he is a "Child of God". I recall when another man looked into the soul of Putin of Russia and look what he got! So watch your back Crabby!

In all your searching you've presented only one who thought it certain, yet you intentionally colored your statement to imply this was a common notion of nonsocialists.

    Typical propagandist.

I propose the oath be taken on a Webster's Seventh Collegiate Dictionary. That way the book can be used to properly define the words in the oath as the writers of the Constitution understood them.

I think the man-made tradition of men, often lost men, taking their oath with their hands on the word of God cheapens what it truly is and makes it nothing more than a prop.

Why not use the Koran, or a dictionary, or any other book instead of demeaning God's holy Word to make a man look good? Apparently the oaths taken on it have been pretty meaningless for much of US history.

I voted for "no", but I also wanted to vote for "don't know, don't care". But I haven't seen a link to anyone but Lady Eagle who said that she wouldn't be surprised if he did.

So .... who are the "some" and why is it important to "have it on record"?

It won't matter if President Obama puts his hand on the unabridged Call of the Wild or the "C" volume of the Encyclopedia Brittanica. I won't mean any more or any less that any other American citizen who puts their hand on something sacred and swears to tell the truth, defend something, or uphold something.

People do what they want - regardless of oaths. That's why Jesus said not to make them.

I don't really give a hoot nor a holler what document he places his hand on. I'm more interested in what he's going to actually do - in spite of the oath - in the next four years.

That, BB, is called being a gentleman, and I thank you.

Roger, I am flattered you devoted a whole thread and poll based on little ole' me.

So, I voted yes. And if I am wrong, I will start a whole thread of apology, fair enough?

Thanks, ya'll, I've had my post-Thanksgiving chuckle for the day, and thanks to all who came to my defense.

God Bless Us Everyone. Merry Christmas. :flower:

I voted don't know, don't care. For as much as he is going to uphold and defend the Constitution, it might as well be a Dr. Suess book.

SN, even if he did take the oath on the Quran, the people who voted for him probably wouldn't care. I just read where some Hollywood star (and vid was on Hannity tonight) called obama his lord and savior. Sheesh. Whatever. This is what America voted for and this is what America got. It is what it is. The plague.

Someone (obama supporter) actually told me today they were concerned what kind of country they were leaving their kids. Fine time to talk about it now that the election is over.

    LE,
I think we did all we could to affect a change. Between the social leftists on one side, and the raving posters on the other side telling us we are bound for hell for voting for a false god worshipper, it was the best we could do.

I actually thought for a few weeks we would win, but God had other plans. It is very discouraging, and the only positive thing to say is that God is sovereign and in charge.

Why does it upset you? IMO, as a moderator she is extremely biased and encourages extreme notions such as this.

...and I won't be surprised to see my previous post deleted. It's become par for course.

Well, I just watched a clip of it and have to admit it sounded bad, and the audience applauded it, but I'm not familiar with Foxx, it would be good to hear comment from him. Very bad taste, for me at least.
