Woman dies after ray strikes her

    I thought it stung her...but it just hit her and she hit her head. Wow.

    Yet one more good reason to have a sailboat. We sailed our sailboat in that area (sailed from Tampa, down through the Keys at Marathon then up to Fort Lauderdale), and I can assure you that we would not have been so badly hurt by impact as was that woman. Hey - we only go 7 to 8 knots tops! LOL

    I don't think it would matter how fast, or slow the boat was moving. I believe she struck her head against the boat she was riding in. How tragic.

    True but the ray wouldn't have hit her with the force that was added of the 25 MPH the boat was going. AND with sails in the way, it would have to come up on the windward side which would decrease the chances even more. :)

    Hey, us sailors blame everything on the stinkpots!
