Nicely said Gold Dragon. Too bad you completely missed the point. The church's mandate is the gospel. When the church sold their things to help the poor, it was the poor in the church that they were helping. There is no evidence that they, as a regular rule, helped people outside the church.
We should "do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith," but this was ill-conceived, without scriptural mandate, and came back to bite them. Doing good, in the NT, is not buying houses for people.
They didn't need me around to stop the nonsense because it never started.
And before some of you say I am against helping the poor, please read more closely and don't make false accusations. I am not against helping the poor.
