Yes it is a classic matchup and should be interesting. I wonder how hard both teams will play though considering they have already clinched a spot in the group of 16.

    Argentina vs Holland

    Thanks 4 His Glory....

I'm sorry though. I have to say that I am pulling for Holland. I believe Argentina will beat them but I do like the underdog here.

Wow 0-0 for the Argentina/Nedtherlands game. I thought there would be at least a couple of goals.

Oh well, at least Argentina wins the group because of goal differential.

Neither team had much to play for. Things will begin hotting up once we are into the knock out stage.

Agreed, David. Gerrard's goal wasn't bad either but we were very sloppy in defence, particularly letting that second goal in. I'm worried about our striking capacity with Owen out. Still, at least we don't have to face Germany...yet!

    It looks like

    Italy v Australia
    Ghana v Brasil

    Good matches if so.

At least the worst penalty call of all-time against the Yanks didn't affect the standings.

Australia 2, Croatia 2. The Draw is enough to get us to the next round, the furthest an Australian team has ever been.

Now for Italy. Logically they have to be the favourites, but if we play well we can beat them

In Melbourne, at one of the squares the match was shown live on a big screen, about 20,000 turned up to watch it - at 5am!!

    Germany over Sweden - check

    Argentina over Mexico - check

England over Ecuador - very possible upset here, Ecuador over England

Portugal over Netherlands - good pick, could go either way - I think I will have to lean toward Holland on this one

Italy over Australia - unless the socceroos play a very aggressive, "in your face" match

Ukraine over Switzerland - check, Ukraine seem to be coming into their own

Brazil over Ghana - could be the surprise match of the tournament, though I would have to agree with you

    Spain over France - check

With Owen being out and Rooney being a crybaby I think Ecuador could end Englands hopes

Depends on the formation. If Sven chooses wisely Ecuador are going home.

Good point - big IF and I think even "if" - Ecuador could catch them off guard. I realise England should win, but they have not looked great yet.

Hardly - I don't think he's playing. Meanwhile Germany are trouncing Sweden 2-0

    Argentina-Mexico 1-1 at half time.

Argentina is not playing to their potential and Mexico is giving everything they'v got. I could see this game going to a shoot out if things continue like they are.

Hah, WestVA, How about that? Mexico could not beat Argentina.

By the way the game should not have even gone to extra time for Argenitna's disallowed goal late in the game should have been counted- no one was offsides.

Anyhow next up Germany! I was hoping Argentina would be the ones to knock them out and they just may.

Great job by the Mexicans, I can see why they are ranked #4 in the world.
