Looks like England are going to plod and bungle to a win again

That is a good way of describing it. Eventually that kind of play is going to catch up with them. They still need to play better. Portuagal will be a tough opponent.

Speaking of Portugal, how about that prediction? So far I have been accurate.

Surprise surprise.... there is really not a longshot team left, just all world powers in regards to soccer. Since I married a Brit and my son was born there, I guess I am rooting for England...

They may plod and bungle, but England still have a good chance!

I have a good illustration for always looking on the bright side. Here in Ulster they still torture me about the fluke win of Northern Ireland over England. So now, even though the World stage has not seen Northern Ireland for a while, they are all still optimistic and happy. Why?

Well, they reason that if England wins the world cup then they beat the world champions...

Warped, but optimistic none the less. :)

Germany over Argentina in shoot out! Ger: 1(4) Arg: 1(2) Final!
Dumb real dumb.:tear: I hate shoot outs personally, I would rather see teams play. I say have sudden death overtime and keep playing till some one socres. Germany was able to put 13 players on the pitch yesterday- the refs and the crowd, and they still couldn't win when actually playing the game. Thats why I hate shootouts, and I would be saying the same thing if Argentina went through on penalties. I don't think any team deserves to go through on penalties.

England is out.
and they didn't deserve it.

Two of the Portuguese penalty kick were not good, they run then stop ten run again that's illegal !

Well the only team left for me to pull for now is Italy (because of my Italian heritage).

I sure hope that in South Africa 2010, the refs will be better. I think the officiating has stunk in this WC like it has never stunk before!

Ronaldo scammed Rooney from the beginning. Before the match he taunted Rooney and after Rooney got the red card Ronaldo went to his coach and winked as if he'd achieved something.

But, at the end of the day, we lost because Rooney could not keep his cool and Robinson could not save goals.

Oh well, until 2010! :)

Personally I thought Robinson had a great game. I would blame him much less for Portugal's penalty shoot-out victory than Lampard, Gerrard and Carragher all of whom shot pitiful penalties. Carragher made a mistake when he had to re-take his penalty and changed his mind about the direction of his shot. Both Lampard and Gerrard had an "Oh no, I'm likely to miss this" look about them ever before they ran toward the penalty spot.

Also I think England played much better after Rooney was dismissed, which proves that the team should never have been built around him.

BTW Have you heard Beckham has now resigned as team captain. I expect Gerrard or Terry will take his place. I hope it is Terry as he is much more inspirational in leadership than Gerrard, but I suspect Steven Gerrard will get it.

Still by 2010 Northern Ireland will be the team to reckon with:thumbs:
