Most of the rest of the world definitely makes that distinction if educated in history. Just not the distinction you make with the term Judeo-Christian which usually includes both Catholic and non-Catholic Christian cultures.

Yes, they make a historical distinction, but when they start throwing around the crusade mud, they throw it on all of us. But when we say Judeo/christian as it is concerned with our founding and early history we can't be saying Judeo/chatholic even from a historical perspective.

"We recognize our faults as a nation and try to correct them." ------------------------------------
And by what measure do we call something a fault and what motivates us to care. This is where the "Judeo/christian" value system comes into play. -
Could we please try to keep this thread on topic? It looks like it has become a personal debate...

I just made a comment, and then had to undergo Josephs inquisisition. The conversation is what it is.

I don't know why Joseph decided to use this topic to bash his homeland.

The bottom line is that all humanity is totally depraved, and it is the grace of God, not man's choice, which regenerates the soul and makes a new creation.
Even if we hold that it is our nation's Christian values that make us better than Saddam's Iraq, that is not of ourselves, but of the grace of God. When it all is boiled down, none of us are any better than anyone, save for the grace of Christ my Lord.
We all have our good points and bad points.

Okay, Joseph. I apologize. It sounded to me like you were but in looking back over your posts you weren't.

I agree with you here. I never said we as humans were better than other humans, just that our actions are better than most. Obviously, our actions have somehting to say about how good we are as a nation or else you would not keep bringing up slavery or Jim Crow. I simpy believe that we have allowed the Lord a bigger place in our national life than any other country in history, and that is why we have the best human rights record when copared to anyother "empire" that ever existed. I give the credit to God and what he has done with us and through us, so ultimately I am not saying we are superior as humans to other humans.
But the way this relates to the thread IAB16, is that this situation is not uncommon. And, I agree with Joseph that we as humans are no better than the folks who are enslaving these women, so thank God for his civilizing influance.
PS Joseph, where are you now? How are the winds? -
Ken,
Apology accepted.
Bunyon,
Luckily, it was a false alarm. Praise God for his mercy and grace.
It had me worried though...all the major local networks were pre-empting the entire first hour of prime time to harp on and on about how bad these storms were going to be. I just think these weather personalities like to be seen. ;)
Oh well...we are ok and back at our house.

From what I've heard, areas southwest of Little Rock toward Hot Springs have been hit hard tonight by damaging winds, maybe even tornadoes. Someone who posts on a Razorback sports board lost part of his roof in that area.

Just to annoy Bunyon it's probably good to point out that the US isn't the only Judeo/reformed country in the world and that while the US has been in the top 20 of countries with the best human rights record basically forever it's not on number one.

I am honored that you would take time out o f your day to attempt to annoy me.
