Does Baptism save?(for former Church of christ members)
I have struggled off and on since a little bit after I got saved on the issue of "Baptismal Regeneration" and I'm wondering does Baptism save? Does it complete it and does God work through it impute Christ's blood on me? I'm 18 (was saved near the end of 2012) and I feel called to ministry. If I'm gonna be proclaiming the good news(and any christian at that) then I need to know if I'm teaching the truth. I want a response from former Church of Christ members because this is whom I have this... -
King Agrippa and Rejection
Acts 26:
27 "King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian."
now we see Paul said I know that thou believest. Did Agrippa have saving faith given to hom as Paul said, or was he under conviction? The Agrippa said almost thou hast persuaded me to be a Christian? How close was he in receiving Christ and yet it appears he chose to say no to the Conviction brought on by the Holy Spirit. So... -
As Dumb As A Spare Tire
Wouldn't it be nice to attend a church where there was no strife? A front door with several lockers where members could “stow their personal agenda's” before entering the Lord's Worship Center? What is the definition of “Worship” anyway? How are we intended to “worship”? What is the proper protocol?
In most Baptist Churches the service begins with two songs, maybe one from the Choir. Then a brief time for announcements followed with the opportunity to tithe. Another song and then the... -
Holy Rollers
News article from this past December (I don't know how I missed this one). It's about the Stoner Jesus Bible Study Group in Denver. Puts those cigars to shame, Evan.

Luke 10:1 and 17 which Version is correct?
Reading through the KJV and the NASB we see Jesus sent out 70 in groups of two. But when we go to the NIV and ESV we see He sent out Seventy two. Now following the numbers 7 x 10 would be 7 spiritual perfection with ten ordinal perfection and we have God spiritual completion with God's perfect order. While 72 would be 6 x 12, six being the number of man and 12 equals Governmental perfection. So we would have man and perfect government so which is correct? 70 or 72 -
Who was Lucifer? Isaiah 14
Many ppl think Lucifer was Satan pre-casting out of heaven. I don't think the context bears that fruit however. I will start with verse 5 of Isaiah 14...
The Lord has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers, which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression. All the lands are at rest and at peace; they break into singing. Even the junipers and the cedars of Lebanon gloat over you and say, “Now that you have been... -
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
This two verse passage has been debated to pieces. I went and read what Adam Clarke, a well respected free will believing Methodist had to say. I am not entirely sure I agree with what he posted, but he did make a compelling argument that 'the god of this world' is not Satan, but God.
Verse 3
But if our gospel be hid: Κεκαλυμμενον· Veiled; he refers to the subject that he had treated so particularly in the conclusion of the preceding chapter. If there be a veil on the Gospel, it is only... -

'The Summit' Pastor J.D. Greear will be nominated for the SBC presidency at this year's gathering in St. Louis. A generation younger than recent SBC presidents, Greear has a Ph.D. in Christian and Islamic Theology.
His church recently amped up its giving through the denomination's 'Cooperative Program':

How to Do an Oral Translation
Let's say you are a missionary to Africa, working with a tribe where many speak English, but their native language or dialect is unwritten. The decision is made to do an oral (or audio) translation of the NT. How would you set out to do this?
1. Goals?
2. Procedures?
3. Choosing national translators?
4. Training the translators?
5. Time tables?
6. The role of missionaries?
7. The role of nationals?
8. Recording or memorizing?
