Mesquite Bean Coffe
Well we just had our first victim, hmm, I mean, tester of our Mequite bean coffee blend. My wife and I have enjoyed it for weeks now, but we served our first cup to a guest. We wait in anticipation as she took the first sip, then the second, then the third. A pleasant smile came over her face as she told us it was really good. Of course she, like my wife, ruined it with milk and sugar, but oh well, not everyone can handle pure coffee. I prefer it strong and black.

That's how coffee is best...used as flavoring for sugared cream! Even BETTER is if you ice it and add whipped cream.
What's kinda funny is that when I lived in OH, it was almost like I had to SNEAK to a tiny, hidden coffee shop and order my sweet iced coffees, then hide as if I was doing something bad. LOL Then I moved north and found that not only did people PROUDLY serve it, they served it with STRAWS! Even hot coffee was served with straws. They also had flavored HOT coffee...stuff like Milky Way, Snickers, Cinnamon Mochas...dddddrrrrrrooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllll
And I knew I'd found heaven. LOL

I'm NOT in a good mood today thanks to my oldest daughter. Can I just say IMMATURE, IRRESPONSIBLE and CARELESS?????????????

I've got so many words I want to say to her but just told her when she came in and asked "So how was staff day?" in a happy voice after I just yelled at her to just leave me alone.
We had staff day today and I was having a problem getting child care but a friend of mine said she could watch the kids. I had to be there at 8:30 and my oldest didn't have to be to school until 12:30, so she said she'd watch the kids in the morning and then bring them to my friend's house. So I told her to leave around 10:45 to be sure she had plenty of time to get the kids there then to drive to university. My friend's house is easy to get to (get off the parkway at this particular exit and she's literally 5 houses down from the exit) and I showed my daughter on google maps and wrote out directions. "I know how to get there." is what she told me. What should have taken 20 minutes TOPS ended up taking 1.5 hours. She kept getting lost, went all over the place. She finally dropped them off at 12:30 (yes, the time her class started 25 miles away). I didn't know this until I was driving my kids home. Think she bothered to try to call me to get me to help? NO!!
So she calls me at 3 and says "Want me to pick up the kids?" We were still in meetings so I said "That would be great" but then we got out of the last meeting not 5 minutes later so I tried to call her to let her know I'd pick up the kids. Her phone was turned off as usual. Forget trying to get a hold of her. So I go get the kids and drive them home (and getting ticked because they're telling me about getting so lost). I tried to call her again 3X but her phone was still off. So much for even HAVING a phone.
She walks in all sing song "Hi!!" and I blast her. I'm so tired of her irresponsibility!! She was late bringing the kids to my friend's house (where she told me she knew right where they lived so I didn't need to print out Google maps for her), VERY late for her ONE class she had today, and since she keeps forgetting to charge her phone, she turned it off so it would die, forget if anyone needs to REACH her for anything!!

OK - I THINK that made me feel better to scream and type it out.
But then again, maybe not.
Oh and to top it all off, our senior pastor was going to announce to the staff about my husband's and my new ministry (hint - we're planting a church) but he decided to hold off and tell everyone Sunday. SOOOOO, I didn't even HAVE to be there for staff day!!!
Man, if I was a drinking woman, I think I'd have a glass of wine right now!! But this Coke will have to do.
I'm thinking some big time chocolate is in store for me too.

I feel for you, Ann. Our daughter pulled a few of those.
In fact, she called earlier, wanting to know if it was OK to drop by and visit while she waited on her friend to finish getting her hair done. She is 21, lives on her own, and has turned her back on her raising. We told her of course it was OK. She calls back about 10 minutes later from a strange number. Seems her phone died while she was trying to call us... the engine on her car had just died. She was only a couple of miles away, so we went to pick her up.
When we pulled up a couple of people were there, a guy and his son who lived right there. The guy is a mechanic. He looks under the hood and closes it, saying, "This car ain't goin' nowhere." I asked him why and he open the hood back up to show me the hole in the engine block where the piston came through. >.<
We brought our daughter home with us. Once we got here I called my mom and asked her if she minded if our daughter borrowed her Buick (94 LeSabre) until she could work out getting a new car. Mom was fine with it and brought it down to the house. Needless to say, our daughter was very relieved. So, even though something really bad happened, God allowed us to show our wayward daughter His love and kindness.
I have a feeling God will use your situation to show your daughter the same thing... if not today, then soon.

I'm doing better now and am not so angry. It just gets me sometimes because I have a 17 year old who is smart, has a ton of common sense and just "gets it". Then there's the 19 year old who I still have to tell her that she needs to take a shower - or do her laundry! She's supposed to have a work-study job and now it's 3 weeks into school and ... nothing. "They haven't called back" is the excuse. She now owes me $1530 for her car (two quarters of insurance and repairs for the bumper from when she slid on ice last winter) and should be giving me $50 a week towards her car insurance yet instead she racked up the credit cards (which we've taken away now - and one is now paid off and the other still needs to be paid this week). But she doesn't have that work-study job which would be bringing in more money! She does hold down one job and I know it's going to be hard to get a work study job with her schedule this semester, but as far as I understand, she's guaranteed a work study job since it's in her financial aid package.
I guess it's hard because she's artsy, flighty, airheaded and that's SOOOO not me. I'm much more black and white, common sense, facts kind of person and I don't understand her brain because my brain doesn't work like hers! I feel like I'm constantly doing this :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: over and over and over and over again!
SIGH - PLEASE tell me someday she'll get her act together! I don't think I could live with this forever!

Our Daughter is sharp, has her head together, and is on the ball most of the time; our Son, on the other hand, would lose his head if it wasn't attached. The deal with the car is also familar: been there-done that more than once. Eventually they improve [so I've heard-still waiting for it to happen though.]
Our middle Gson dropped out of youth football the other night. I wondered from the start if he could handle it physically. He gave it a good try but just couldn't do it. He made it to all the practices and went through all the drills, but afterward he would hurt for about 3 days.
Tonight we're having the Pastor and his family over for dinner: Grilled Steaks, Grilled Veggies, Biscuits and Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. The Pastor and his Wife were only coming originally, but as I told him, the kids have to eat too and this would let all of them to come and relax, and not worry about feeding the kids before they come.
Time to start getting the fixins ready for tonight.

I occasionally joke around out here and ask for a rum and coke without the rum! I don't drink either, used to gag down about 1/4 cup of wine on occasion for medical reasons but that seemed to be offending some people so I quit. If you've ever had it, it tastes nasty anyhow! I'd have to plug my nose and I'd still have to work to keep it down for about a minute after.
ANYHOW! All of that to preface this: I work with college kids on a regular basis. Instead of explaining clauses and dangling modifiers, I find myself spending the hours explaining how to spell and what the difference is between stuff like running and tables. Therefore, I'm a amazed that you have a 19 year old who can speak clearly enough to ask you something in full sentence format. You should be really impressed with her! Trust me. LOL :laugh:

LOL - See, I like wine (white wine), so that makes it even harder to not have some.
I keep it in the house (red and white) for cooking but no drinking anymore. We no longer work with the college ministry, which is the reason we stopped drinking, and while now we feel that we COULD drink again, we don't because of our daughter's boyfriend. He came to us a few months ago to confess that, before he dated our daughter or even started coming to church, he went through a period of time where he drank a LOT - regularly becoming drunk. He since repented of that and knows it's wrong and he promised us that we'd never have to worry about that with him. It was refreshing to have him come to us to tell us but because of that, we feel that we really should be an example and just not drink. So while it's tempting, I'll have my Coke instead. ROTFL - So true. But I'd still expect her to be more like mom and dad and be just LOGICAL. But she's not. She's artistic. We're not. I need to understand how she's made up and work with that but accept that she's not like dad and I. MAN, that's hard! LOL
Sounds like how I feel about one of my wacky kids. She likes WEIRD stuff like tiny Victorian shoe Christmas ornaments and SEWING! What kind of messed up person enjoys frills AND sewing?! LOL *sigh*

Hmmm - Don't know if I should post or not since this is Gina's blog! :laugh:
It's nice and cool here this morning. I'm homeschooling the kids (I'm on the laptop in the kitchen while they work) and having a nice cup of tea.
I'm also waiting for the appliance repair guy to come since our oven is on the fritz. HOPEFULLY it's just the temperature sensor, although that's still a $300 bill! Bleck! If it's not the sensor, they'll take back the part and charge us only $50 for the service call which I think is pretty fair. What I hate is that I was waiting for cooler weather to clean the oven so it's a mess right now. How embarrassing!
Later today, Joanna has her first ballet class and she's beyond excited!! She's been begging for us to do this and we decided that we'll squeak out the $75 a month it costs so she can do this. Atleast this time around I'm not doing 2 kids!! When we did ballet last time, I had both of my older girls in it and it was expensive!! But doing just one is so much easier.
After ballet, I'll run Joanna home and then scoot out to church where the kids will come a little later (I need to be there by 6:30 and they don't need to be there until 7. We have Pioneer Girls and Boy's Brigade and our oldest will be taking the Dave Ramsey course (mandatory for her at this point - she has NO clue about finances).
Wednesdays will be my busy days and I need to figure out how it's all going to fall into place. I have boneless country-style ribs in the crockpot and hopefully that will help with dinner time. We'll see though.

I am sorta new here (lurked on husbands account), so I thought I would introduce myself. I am married and the mother of 2 girls, 16 and 18. The 18 year old is in college at NNU in Idaho, 8 hours away, and they have swine flu. We knew God would protect her if we allowed her to go there, but didn't expect anything to happen so fast! Even so, I am amazed at how at peace we are since I am one of those moms who planned for my kids to never move away! Ok, phone calls, texting, video calls and facebook help a lot.
We live in Oregon. It is incredibly unChristian here. We are in a church that has gone from about 300 to 60 people in the last 5 or so years. That is pretty much the condition of most churches around here.
Finally, I LOVE COFFEE!

About your experience with churches, may be the sign of the times.... But you know what, all the Lord asks us to be faithful. We need to focus our eyes upon Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

G'morning Annsni! It's OK, I have a blog of my own. I just rarely post on it. Go figure! Ballet sounds wonderful. My oldest had a few lessons when she was tiny and enjoyed them!
BTW, I SAW THAT COMMA SPLICE! hehehe (don't worry, I love coming on here and using improper grammar!)
This morning's breakfast is biscuits and gravy. If you think THAT'S bad, I woke up this morning and say "haaaa" instead of "hye." This state is wearing off on me and I feel like I have cooties!
