More on Gun Ammo shortage

My big question is

What in "Tarnation" does any elderly "Hen" needs with 5000 rounds of .22's

Lots of snakes in the yard??

Rats??

Vermin in the Dairy Parlor

I have a little .22 semi-auto rifle---------and 2 years ago I bought a box of 500 bullets------thats been two years ago and I'm not finished with that box

I just don't see the need in having 5000 rounds of any sort of bullet-------I would blame a lot of the purchases on "hesteria"------its the same thing happening with ammo as with gasoline------you hear rumor that "gas is goin' up a quarter next week!!!" and you rush out and "top off" your tank before it goes up

"Ammo is goin' up!"

So we rush out to Academy or Wally World and "stock up"-----stock up----for what???? What do people want to stock up on bullets for???

I don't know-----mercy---maybe its just me-----stockin' up on 5000 rounds---it sounds like something the First Armored Division would want to do---but little ole "Hens"????????

Those who advocate armed rebellion against the lawful government of the United States should suffer the consequences as traitors to the nation. Revolution? Or insurrection.

These people seem to think the solution to all their problems is owning a gun. Sad.

JC just who are "These people"? I have never heard of anyone who thinks the solution to all problems, or for that matter even most problems, is gun ownership,. Maybe gun owners should be treated as the lepers were in Israel during the time of Christ? Or maybe we should be viewed as a sub-human species to be treated like the Jews in Hitler's Germany? Not accusing anyone, just wondering.

Just who on this Forum is advocating armed rebellion against the lawful government of the United States? I do recall some leftists nuts advocating the murder of Vice president Cheney and his family. Does that qualify?

Two years and you haven't shot up 500 itty bitty .22 shells? Now I am concerned for you Brother Blackbird. With all that house building, gentleman lawn service and the regular more-than-full-time hours of a bi-vocational pastor.... well you just left yourself no time for plinking!

Do I need to save you some pop bottles? Did Talladega County go dry? I can have the church folk save their empty tin cans....

Speaking of ammo.... padre and his buddy went prowling around Gander Mountain a few weeks back. My buddy paid $58.00 for a box of 20 shells for his .308. That's almost $3.00 a shell! Great googly-moogly!

That old granny had to throw down about $300.00 for all those .22s. You'd think that Holtz lady would be glad for the business. Of course if she's selling .308s for $60 a box she's probably mad the old woman wouldn't trade in her .22!

I pay about 30 bucks for a box of 30 .300 WSM rounds. I currently have about 400 rounds.

I pay only 25 bucks for a box of 50 .44 magnum bullets, and have plenty of those, as well.

I laugh at......

I guess I've maybe 100 410game shot shells. lol!..... If I ever need to really use it for other than killing snakes or crows.... I figure I'll either have plenty of ammo left..... or I'll never be able to eject and reload much past the first round or two..... 5000 rounds just sounds too funny!...... But the lady maybe smart.... She may not just be buying it for her own use and protection.... but if the value of the dollar goes much too south..... it might bring back the value of bartering things like salt, alcohol, sugar, ammo.............. get the picture?

We may just live in different worlds.

To me 5000 rounds of .22 ammo just does not sound that extreme. Every time we go shooting my boys and I will burn through 500 to 1000. Owning a gun is worthless unless you can hit what you aim at, and the only way to build and maintain good marksmanship skills is to shoot. I can’t afford to put 500 rounds through my .44 or .303, but I can afford to shoot my .22’s.

As far as the connection to insurrection or revolution; I don’t think it is that as much as it is a total lack of confidence in our government’s ability to ensure our safety and future. I don’t understand the mindset of people that look to government to ensure their safety, security, or prosperity. I guess I have just never seen government deliver on any of those promises.

I mean I still believe that the only reasons governments exist is to secure the individual rights of men and women, and I also still believe that, “whenever any form of government becomes destructive to those ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it.” That is what our founders believed. They also believed that it was, “their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government.”

I am sure you recognize those words from our Declaration of Independence. You know reading through their list of grievances that they wrote that day there are a lot of similarities. Even our founders acknowledged that revolution should not be undertaken for “light and transient causes.” But look at some of their complaints that they considered, “a long train of abuses and usurpations . . . design to reduce them under absolute Despotism.”

Their complaints included (among other things):
· He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.
· He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws;
· For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent

So perhaps we are due another armed revolution. Our founders envisioned that happening every generation or so. But it will not be led by “little old ladies” with .22s. I think they just want some security that they will be safe in the anarchy many of us see on the horizon.

When the government fails JC and MP, who will protect your family? Or when the government comes for you, will you go like sheep or will you resist?

I have told men before they could have my possessions, but they are going to have to take them, I will not give them up willingly. If you want what I have you are going to have to whip me first. And I am not saying you can’t, it’s been done before. But it has been done fewer times than it has been tried, I will tell you that.

The whole point of buying up more ammo than you really need is in the event you may have to use it. I bought up several boxes of 12 gauge shotgun ammo. That doesn't mean that I will need it. That doesn't mean that I will use it. I hope I never have to, but I feel much safer knowing that I have an ample supply of ammunition. Besides I wouldn't put it past the government to regulate ammuntion sales too. If they were to make guns illegal, they would also reduce or eliminate ammunition.

Gun smithing is something I would love to do as a hobby, because I have a feeling that sooner or later we will not be able to own guns at all. If I became a skilled gun smith, I could learn how to create homemade guns & ammo. If this were to happen, I would also feel it is my duty to supply all law abiding citizens a gun at a reasonable price.

Comment on Paragraph #1

Bird shot or Buck shot

Big difference between #8 shot and #00

And correct me if I'm wrong but--------you can buy #8 shot from the open shelf at Wally World----but #00 is sold behind the counter---you have to ask the little lady clerk for a pack

Comment on Paragraph #2

Reloading would be a fun hobby for me, too----there's a fella in my church who reloads-------and he tells me its done gotten expensive, just like buying them off the shelf has

There was another fella in my church down in Mississippi who reloaded---I went into his reloading "shed" behind his house-----and he had enough powder and lead-----enough to have supplied General Custer and his troopers against Crazy Horse----at least until help came to 'im(Crazy Horse, that is!!!!----"Me need um help!!!")------I tried to visualize the area around this fellas "loading shed"-------if all that powder went "Ka-blue-ee"-------it'd take out a pretty wide area----so be careful with your reloads guys!!!!! No smokin'----no open flames---and keep the door open in case you have to run------but with all that powder, again----runnin' won't do no good!!!!!:type:

There is absolutely no problem with that. It just seems you do not have the time to go shooting very much.
Quite a bit of my gun collection is comprised of old (1940-1960s) single shot .22s. Since shooting and hunting is my main hobby, I can go through a box of 500 shells at the range before lunch, so buying 5000 would not only allow a few trips to the range and/or bunny hunting, but should also cost a little less since I would be buying them in bulk.

"-------if all that powder went "Ka-blue-ee"-------"

Powder kept in the original containers have very little chance of exploding. The biggest danger is from the primers.
