A Washington, DC, pastor and outspoken opponent of same-sex "marriage" says California mega-church pastor Rick Warren has done "tremendous damage" by apologizing for his support last fall of California's marriage protection amendment.

I already have seen a softening among Christians toward homose*xuality and same s*x marriage. I think we will see more of it.

Now that Iowa has made same s*x marriage legal, we will see more states doing this. DC is probably next. (Interesting to note that Iowa is where the Maharisihi settled and started his university and still has a large group there after his death).

It does not garner much popularity to take a stand against this as it becomes more accepted in the culture. Nowadays Christians have children who attend school with kids with same s*x parents; how do they handle their child going to a birthday party, or invited to an overnight, at a friend's home whose parents are in a same s*x union? Things get more complicated as the culture slides further into immorality.

I read the transcripts of the interview. He does not apologize for supporting prop 8 nor does he backslide. He apologized to friends for the press misrepresenting what he's said. It is so vitally important to hear what someone has to say in context because the press can do SO much damage by posting only a portion of what was said.

The link to the transcript is in the other thread "Warren has an agenda that doesn't include preaching on sin" or something like that. Read the context and see if he's backsliding on homosexual marriage. I don't think he is.

Once again you misrepresent that the press took something out of context. Warren claims that the press has made it seem like he compared gay marriage to pedophilia and to incest (which, of course gay marriage is on that level). But, Warren claims he never said that gay marriage was on the same level as the others. Facts prove differently.

The issue to me, I'm not opposed to that as much as I'm opposed to redefinition of a 5,000 year definition of marriage. I'm opposed to having a brother and sister being together and calling that marriage. I'm opposed to an older guy marrying a child and calling that marriage. I'm opposed to one guy having multiple wives and calling that marriage.

BELIEFNET: Do you think those are equivalent to gays getting married?

Oh , I do.

No one misrepresented him! He said that incest and pedophilia are equivalent to gay marriage. I agree that they are equivalent, so I have no problem with him saying it. He, and you, claim that someone distorted that. How is it distorted? What other way can you take the answer of "Oh, I do."??

I'd be willing to make a bet that if 49 states approve homosexual marriage, that Alabama will be the last state to disapprove. I have heard how we are last in a lot of areas like education, technological advances, & other things. Being last isn't all bad, especially if you're the last state remaining that defines marriage as being between a man & woman.
