I toured those facilities back in the 1970s. A modern publishing firm doesn't need all that press space. It is much more cost efficient to outsource the printing to the big printing firms in the Great Lakes region.

Modern desktop publishing has eliminated the need for the big pasteup boards, etc., and it takes fewer people and less time to prepare a book for printing.

Interesting statement for MNJacob seeing that his pastor had been elected as a Trustee for Lifeway Christian Resources

No Baptist Vatican. The SBC main offices are spread throughout Virginia, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

What kind of ignorant statement is this comparing Lifeway to apostate JW's? Hopefully the moderators will deal with you.

That is technically true but the highest concentration by far of SBC offices is in Nashville. http://www.sbc.net/aboutus/acloserlook.asp

This is "news" and a good place for discussion

Only thing I hate is the HATE spread by small minds.

If you want to comment on the subject, do so in spirit of discussion and not to spew venom. Or at Ted Allen would say, you will be chopped.

    Its a wise move.

Frankly, they should sell off all the buildings of all the agencies and move into less expensive environments then use the surplus money for church planting in areas where the SBC has no voice nor church representation.

That goes for the ERLC too...which should be severed from the SBC and made to rely on donations.

As for the "Baptist Vatican"...that just represents a fundamental misunderstanding of how the actual SBC functions.

Y'all are just no fun. Sarcasm just kind of bounces around a couple of feet over your heads.

I have some good friends at Lifeway. I think they would have snickered a bit at my comment.

Lots of us get sarcasm, but usually the only way we can tell its sarcasm in an online forum is the use of smilies and other emoticons to communicate voice. You didn't use any. How could we tell?

Well, he got a threat to be 'chopped'. I guess you'll have to be satisfied with that.

It's about time. That is a beast, and I am sure there is a lot of dead unused space in it. Certainly something that all should revisit.

How Lifeway-ish of you, attempting to silence a critic. And that's exactly what I meant with my reference to the crew in Brooklyn.

I've had my tussles with those hacks at a couple of Sunday School conferences. I expressed concern over their incessant twisting of scripture in their curriculum; their browbeating of the saints through an emphasis on serving the ministry of death (look that up in scripture if you don't know what it is); and their worldly, ungodly use of polling among unbelievers for what the church ought to look like

And they employed the same Brooklyn-like tactics that they've apparently taught you.

    Good job.
