"Acts 1:8" is a frequent poster on this board, so I thought this would be the appropriate place to post the fact that he died on Tuesday (8/3).
He was a young man, mid to late 20s, and this is a sad day. He drowned while at the beach in Bradenton, FL.
His name was Chris Lofton, and we met (again) on this board some 10 years after the last time we saw each other....when we grew up in the same church youth group. We had started exchanging messages on this board about ministry and life, and I am truly saddened by this event.
If you could lift his parents and brothers and sister up to the Lord in prayer...that would mean a great deal to them.

Chris Lofton
LOFTON, Chris, 28, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 3, 2004. Chris was a lifelong resident of the Tampa Bay area. He graduated from King High School in 1993, attended the University of South Florida and Hills- borough Community College and had worked in the telecommunications field. Chris was an active member of First Baptist Church of Brandon and had a passionate love for his Lord Jesus Christ. His desire to reach others for Christ was the guiding force in his life. Although our hearts are breaking, we rejoice in knowing that he is safe in the arms of the Lord he loved so much. Chris is survived by his parents, Paul and Brenda Lofton; brother, Michael; sister, Laura; maternal grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Euhus; paternal grandmother, Betty Lofton; aunt and uncle, Richard and Darlene Euhus; uncle, Gary Lofton; and cousin, Ryan Euhus. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Ellis Lofton. Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, at Stowers Funeral Ho me in Brandon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace. Interment will follow. STOWERS-BRANDON

I'm so very sorry to hear of this but am so thankful Chris is with His Jesus today!

Heartfelt sympathy goes out.
Now, what was the last response I made to this young man? Think I called him a "cheeky monkey" as we laughed on a post in General Forum over some of the so-called curse words.
Reminds us all to be careful in our choices of words to other posters - we never know when it will be the last words . . . -
Amen - although I never met Chris in person I feel like we have all lost a friend for a while.

Chris has a very organized website with links to just about anything Christian. It's

He was a great guy & was a moderator here for a time. So young. Glad to know he is with Jesus now, but my heart goes out to his family in their loss and sorrow. Just a kid, but he lived a full life for the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't remember him ever being mean to anyone either.
We will miss you, Chris. -
Maybe his death at such a young age will touch some lives and turn them toward our Lord.
We will miss you, Chris! -
That's a great site, Diane. Y'all need to check it out. It looks like he was doing some great work for the Lord.
I remember that we got the link to download the KJV bible from him.
I'm really sorry to hear about his death, but he is with Jesus now and I'm happy for that. I will be praying for his family. -
Diane, thanks for re-wording the thread title...I didn't exactly know what to title it, you know?
Chris was a good guy...he was 3 or 4 years ahead of me in the youth group, but we grew up at the same church for our entire childhood.
We just started messaging back and forth this summer after we started talking on this board and figured out who each other were. So, this came as quite a shock when I heard about this from my father today.
He is a brother in the Lord, and he will be missed. But we know who is in control, and to whom Chris' life AND even death bring glory. I think Chris would point us to the same thing. -

You're welcome. I didn't want it over looked. This is so sad.

I loved the fact he whole the whole Bible on a web page. He was a very remarkable fellow. I'm very saddened to hear of his passing but, I am happy he is going home. We'll meet him when we go home too!

Very sorry to hear this sad news.

Oh! I am so saddened to hear of this. Such a loss for us, but what a glorious gain for him! I will be praying for his family and loved ones and I will miss him.

To live is Christ and to die is gain. But it is such a great loss to one so young. My prayers for his family

Wow. I'm saddened to hear we've lost yet another Chris on this board!
Goes to show we never know what will happen tomorrow to those we are talking to today. Let's always remember to temper our conversation with grace and love for the person we are talking to.
May God give his family peace and keep the Holy Spirit strong in their presence for their comfort.

john 6:40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. -
JGrayhound, did your father say how the drowning occurred? I didn't see any news article about it when I searched for his obituary. Wondering if it was an undertow or in a pool?
