Independent= Autonomous; Fundamental= Belief in the Fundamentals of the Faith (Inspiration of the Scriptures, Virgin Birth of Jesus, etc); Baptist= Loosely speaking, after one has rec'd Christ as Savior, they're immersed in water following Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. IFB's ought to be unified, but not uniform as some IFB's would like it. :D
Any IFB Pastors posting here?

My church is autonomous, Fundamental, etc. and that is why I have always considered myself an IFB. However, It alarms me that many of the IFB world have gone away from the fundamentals in the area of translations. It seems that many are looking to these new translations that have corrupted fundamentalism.

Many debate on this board about that very same thing. I believe that KJVO was not part of historic fundamentalism, but crept in through the SDA B. Wilkinson, then other Baptist brethren. If you read many of the old time fundamentalists, you'll see they used other translations in their sermons, writing, etc. such as; C H Spurgeon, R.A Torrey, J. Frank Norris, John R Rice, etc. Some of us believe that KJVO has corrupted Fundamentalism, since it is relatively new to the movement. It caught fire from what I know in the 70's, with Ruckman, JJ Ray, D.O. Fuller, E.F. Hills, Waite and others advocating this view. Most of us that are not KJVO do not have a problem with IFB Pastors who only use the KJV, but the problem is when the KJV English is exalted to supplant the very MSS that the AV1611 is based upon. Anyhow, may God bless you here as you learn from others and teach others here on the BB.
your friend, Bro Kevin -
Thank you for the information. I do not hold to the Ruckman theory of double inspiration. However, I do believe the KJV is the best translation for English speaking people. I appreaciate your input

I am a relatively new IFB pastor (since Nov 2003). I was ordained by and previously served in a very conservative GARBC church as an associate pastor. -

I attend and am a member of an independent fundamental Baptist church. I'm not sure that I call myself that, though. I am a Christian. If trying my utmost to live my life in accordance with the Bible is being IFB, then I guess I am. When making decisions in my life, if it goes against Biblical teachings, I won't do it. I am a woman, wife and mother and, only being a year in Christ, I am sincerely trying my utmost to live up to all three standards, but only according to God's Word, not how the world sees women, wives and mothers. Isn't that what being Christian is really all about?
Being a Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, etc. etc. is not what saves you. It is hearing the real truth and receiving the gift of eternal life. We need to have pastors out there who are willing to stand tall and strong for God's word and not back down from it. Our pastors are our shepherds here on earth. If they teach the wrong things, their whole flock can suffer the consequences.
I think my post went way out in left field from the original question. But, I saw this thread turn into a bashing post instead of just simply finding out who was an IFB Pastor.
