While some authors are "flash-in-the-pan" with just a popular book or two, others stand tall with every book they write. Here are a few that I simply trust and would read/devour anything they write:</font>While not conclusive, I am wracking the egg trying to think if I've ever read something from one of these that was "off the wall". They are all conservative (most reformed) and I trust them.

However, generally I'll read anything. I think it's important go out of one's particular theological box to keep sharp. Iron sharpens iron.

It's so cool to see John MacArthurs name mentioned so often as being a trusted author...as he used to be my pastor...before we moved out of the area.
My list:
John MacArthur
Paul Chappell
Sherry Hutson Camperson
Barbara Johnson
John R. Rice
Lee Roberson
C.H. Spurgeon
C.S. Lewis
H.G. Wells
Lewis Caroll
Charlotte Bronte
Maeve Binchy
Rosamunde Pilcher
Charles Dickens
Jane Austin
Lucy Maud Montgomery
James Clavell
I read your topic...just to make sure that the others did not have to write specifically in the Christian genre...I hope it was okay to include the authors that I most valued for their consistancy to be satisfying in their readability. -
I get frustrated with MacArthur and wouldn't have him on this list, although I do enjoy reading and listening for the most part.

C.S. Lewis

(unless Foote or McPherson have some theological tome in their repertoire??) -
No, although Foote can wax lyrical. Honest, I didn't intend to get off-topic. After Dostoevsky, I figured the others were fair game. Would be happy to take up Foote, McPherson, et al on another thread.
