Baptist Abbreviations

I'm a Primitive Baptist and am not familiar with the Baptist abreviations used by others for their churches. Please enlighten me as to what SBC, ABC, GARBC, BMA, CBF, BBFI, CBA, and all the others mean. As you know ours is PB and thank you all for your input... Brother Glen :confused:

ABA - American Baptist Association
ABC - American Baptist Churches in the USA
ARBCA - Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America
BBFI - Baptist Bible Fellowship International
BGC - Baptist General Conference
BMAA - Baptist Missionary Association of America
CBA - Conservative Baptist Association
CBF - Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
FBF - Fundamental Baptist Fellowship
FWB - Free Will Baptist
GARBC - General Association of Regular Baptist Churches
IFB - Independent Fundamental Baptist
NABC - North American Baptist Conference
NBC - National Baptist Convention (two groups with this name)
PB - Primitive Baptist
SBC - Southern Baptist Convention
WBF - World Baptist Fellowship

CEC-BC Council of Evangelical Christian-Baptist Churchs (the "underground/unregistered" churchs)

American Baptist Churches of the South is a region of the ABC/USA. We call our state level organizations "regions" rather than "conventions."

I'd be currious as to what some in this discussion meant by saying that the SBC doctrinal stands are "in better shape." than the ABC. Can you be a bit more specific?

In Australia, a christian of no nominated denomination is often called a "Bush Baptist".

 

Now that is TRULY Baptist

I thought it meant "Bring Your Own Baptist"--LOL

BCOQ - Baptist Convention of Ontario & Quebec.
FEBC - Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada.
