Hi folks
I am starting this thread as a place where folks can post a URL or a mini-biography of well-known or influential Baptists of yesteryear. Lots of times their names are brought up, and I for one, would like to know more about them.
Warm regards
Jeff

Brother Jeff -
Good thread topic. I've got a good resource for you on this one. With Christmas approaching, the Southern Baptist make a special offering to the Lottie Moon fund. Here is her story:http://www.sbhla.org/bio_moon.htm
If you click the link "biographies at the top of the page, you will find a dozen or more biographies of famous SBC figures.

I am resurrecting Brother Jeff's topic here to post another biography of an early Baptist leader: John Waller. This page is found on the website for a church he established himself in 1769. I posted this in the Bible reading forum and realized it would servr well here as well. Enjoy!http://www.wallers.org/historypastor.htm
May God bless you

I have a best friend by the name of John Waller--a friend since childhood, and one of the staunchest Baptists you'll find anywhere. Amazing.

Here are several short bios of Scottish Baptist Ministers and a little on William Carey.

RoseAnne Cunningham and Billie McNamara got this book online yesterday: East Tennessee Baptists Biographies. Here is the URL: http://www.wdbj.net/~tnknox/tnbaptists/index.html

Jeff,
How are you these days? -
Bro. Jeff, it's great to see you back. I can speak for a number of us in saying that you have been greatly missed. You have been a great help to me both on and off of the Baptist Board. May God's blessings abide on you richly.
Also, there is a question Kiffin asked on the "Views of Baptist Origins" that relates specifically to Primitive Baptists which you probably can address more specifically than I. If you have time, take a look at it. Thanks.
Finally, to all: Here is a site that has some Baptist Portraits (short biographies with a picture, including Backus, Gill, and Christmas Evans). -
