Good that is what I now believe. we are our own destiny. If we are victims at all, or conquerors, we have done it in our minds and our will, or with our faulty judgements or our illusions. If we permit others to exploit us, in private life or in government, we chose it.
True but with the grace of God all things are possible.

I'm already feeling much better thank you.....more alive, stronger, empowered. Knowledge is a great thing....true knowledge that is, not the trash fed to people which is merely propaganda to the stupid masses. Once understood then the world is acceptable, even fun to play in & the rewards are myriad....not so for the obscure. Think about it.
maybe you need your Rumspringa (Amish rite of passage). Been there done that.

Just keep you anchor cloven into the Rock of Ages.

I hate the Amish...they are a cult that treats their animals like crap. And if there is a profit in the Rock of ages, I’m all in.

I like your answers but what is Gods law?
God's standard of righteousness (Paul would call it, “the law of God”) which Jesus kept as the Son of God, and which the Holy Spirit strengthens us to keep (although imperfectly, see Romans 8:4).

The Decalogue to show us where we fail, and the Great Commandment to strive for in the areas addressed in the Beatitudes and elsewhere.

You are wasting your time with me then... I’m a sinner and Tom, I don’t have the patience to suffer fools well

That is not uncommon on the Baptist Board. Some people just seem incapable listening and learning.

Yes, we know. We all are.

You really don't want to call me a fool. Would you care to reconsider your remark?
I didn’t call you personally a fool. If you want to, I can privetly give you a list of those I feel are on this board but you won’t be on it.

i am not endorsing Amish life style just using their idea of Rumspringa as an illustration of a method of testing or getting something out of your system.
e.g. young people in the Amish community (early adulthood) are told to go out into the world (Rumspringa) and if you want it - stay, if you want our way come back. not exactly what they do but close.

What they actually do is undereducated them, zero socialize them and underprepare them and them send them out like sheep to the slaughter. Fine people those Amish!

So you feel that is the right way ... to do what, discipline me?!? Oh that is funny!

I guess that I'm not very good at emulating the President am I?
I don't think he's a narcissist, he suffers from egomania perhaps and lacks the schmooze of a well polished establishment politician, but IMO he is not a narcissist.

BTW neither are you but you sure know how to role play. :)

This scripture has always perplexed me... How can I be holy?... But yet we see this verse among the other ones in first Peter

1 Peter 1:13 -16

When we think of God... Again how can we reach that holiness?... Apostle Paul who said in his letter to the Philippian brethren.

Philippian 2:1- 2:8

To my understanding of the Holiness of God is to think of others first in conversation and deed before we think of ourselves... Your thoughts?... Brother Glen:)

Sorry to see your doctrine based thread has been hijacked by the assertion it is kosher to sin all the more so grace may abound.

No our instruction and command is to be holy. Now how can we be holy? By the washing of regeneration, by the circumcision of Christ. Everyone born anew has been made holy and blameless by the blood of the Lamb. But we know we still think and do things that are sinful. However, in Christ it is just as if we did not have those thoughts or do those deeds, because we are justified. So the issue is not becoming holy through salvation, but how we live and carry out our ministry for Christ as His ambassadors. We are to try to be holy, Christ-like, such that we do not disqualify ourselves as effective witnesses for Christ. Our indwelt Holy Spirit will bring to mind our shortfalls. I still get mad at the posters who present obvious falsehoods, but I know Christ died for each and every one of them. Study the word, compare yourself not with others but with Christ, and strive to be Christ-like everyday. God bless

How can I be holy?

Positionally, all that are in Christ are holy in His sight.

Compare:

2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy; for I Jehovah your God am holy. Lev 19

....with:

48 Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Mt 5

....with:

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Heb 10

Practically, we have our goal to aim for, regardless of how badly we may fail.

Illuminate sin and then people will be perfect... not before that
