If he only knew how liberating it is to believe the totality of God's salvation...
He didn't just save you from the penalty of sin, but also the power of sin.
He won't just save you from the power of sin, He will also save you from the presence of sin. THAT is the Totality of salvation. You cannot separate those realities. Salvation is of the Lord.
Paul answered the concerns of Christians still struggling with sin in Romans 7. He concludes in Romans 8 with "There is now, therefore, no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Amen, as that will answer forever if we can lose our salvation!
Some versions add those who walk in the Spirit, but the actual text reads just as you stated it, so must have had a scribe copy it down and had to add in that extra part, as they could not grasp that salvation has no conditions to it!
As per usual, you're not defining your terms.
E.G. I have no idea what you mean by "faith".
Might it include obedience to Jesus' commandments?
Because I have 10 NT verses which (are supposed to)
teach us that this is necessary to receive eternal life.
So, obedience is part and parcel of "saving faith".
As for me, I have no idea what you mean by "faith".
Oh, I already said that.
Of course, this is all true ... for those who are co-operating with the Holy Spirit.
Dost thou thinkest that it applies to believers who persist in habitual unrepentant sinning?
To the which is all I have ever been hammering you people over the head with!
Meanwhilst, JonS and JonC, what do you think about my sig?
How about a brilliant comment on it?
19namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
The Suffering and PAIN itself expresses being doomed in God forsaken suffering.
1My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?
Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.
But God never forsakes Jesus
Psalm 22
24For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from him;
But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
The Bible defines the term "faith" for us. Hebrews 11
[1]Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
Satan is to God as a gnat is to humans.
What Satan hopes is irrelevant and not worth wasting time.
What God ordains is of eternal consequence.
Take your eyes off Satan, utilyan, and turn your eyes upon Jesus...the author and perfector of our faith. (Hebrews 12)
The answer is...no. God doesn't love anything about you. You are a lawbreaking rebel who brings nothing of value to God. You are a complete and utter wretch and you are unloveable.
However, God loves his Son. He loves his Son's act of payment for the sins of those adopted by God. God's love for his Son is transferred to us by Jesus atonement for sin and we stand before God only by the gracious act of Jesus on our behalf. We bring NOTHING to the table and we stand or fall by the mercy and grace of God and God alone.
So...no...God does not love anything about you, utilyan.
