Can't we stay on topic for once or is this some
kind of bait question? for goodness sake speak
your mind Bro. Curtis ..Bill Bennett did.
Robert Byrd has been debated point counter point
on this board ad nasesum for goodness sake look it up! I think my last counter point was a debate with Joe B on him..seems like Sean Hannity likes to pull it off the top of his head with no facts what so ever or even listen to what Robert Byrd has done since 1946...the Rushs and the Hannitys keep going to the well on this and it is old and has been answered...now do you have something to say about Bennett ..were is words wise or unwise?
Did he help the conservative movement that had
been reaching out to afro-americans..yes/no/indifferent?
I say he goofed in a major way and that is why
he is being condemned from all sides even the
conservative side, that is words at the least
were unwisely chosen.
Yes, yes, yes, but Bennett didn't say that violent crime would go down, but that the crime rate would go down. He didn't say that the prison population would go down, but that the crime rate would go down.
If we include all crimes, including DUI and DUI deaths and white collar crime, most crime is committed by whites. Bennett would have been more accurate in saying, "If we abort white babies, the crime rate will go down," or "If we abort more babies, the crime rate will go down." I realize the point of what he was saying on abortion but that doesn't negate the inaccuracy of what he said.
As far as I am concerned, Bennett has no credibility on morality anyway. Who is he to be a moral voice on anything? </font>
I think that Bennett was responding to some book called Freakonomics.
That book says that one of the advantages of abortion is that it lowers the crime rate.
I doubt that Bennett is a racist.
He is a conservative Catholic whose only wrongdoing was that he used to like to gamble, which, unfortunately, the Catholic Church permits.
He was former US drug czar and former US Sec. of Education.
So he has served the country well and generally has no enemies.
He made a little money during the Clinton scandals by editing a book of famous writings on moral virtue.
He has been allied with Jack Kemp and Jeanne Kirkpatrick.
It's very strange that is seems okay, among many, for them to say whatever they want about others.
It's just not okay, among the same, for the others to say anything.
That's correct!
Bennett said nothing wrong.
He was correct when he said, in reference to abortion of unborn black children:
"That would be an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do."
The good thing is that he'd say the same thing about unborn children of any race.
He'd also say that abortion isn't an acceptable "solution" for poverty.
He has no bias, racial or otherwise, on abortion.
He's right on target!
What you guys are really saying is that Bennet failed to be pc. The NAACP and Democrates and other eforce a kind of newspeak.
And Bennet accidentally violated it.
I still say the main moitve for the Demos, is to keep the race boogie man alive. Since Socioeconomic opportunities abound, they are scared to death that black may start to exercise a little plurality in their voting.
That idea scares pants off the demos.
If that ever happens, the demo loose big time.
That could sound like a racist statement to some!
How can "whites" be sterotyped in this manner? </font>
But it's more accurate, as I've already posted at least twice. Whites do commit more crime -- not proportionately, but overrall. It's just a simple point I was making in response to Bennett.
Kinda adds a little veracity to Bennett's statement; in spite of the weeping and wailing of the bleeding heart leftists and PCers </font>
That link is about homicides, not all crime. Bennett said "reduce crime."

It perpetuates a sterotype that more whites - in raw numbers - committ more crime than blacks - in raw numbers.
It offends whites.
