We finally got us a good preacher. Last night to open service he prayed "Lord please remove Biden from office. Remove that wicked, evil, senile, stupid old
man from office...."
After prayer he said "I hope none of you are Democrats. If you are, I am sorry. No, I am not. If you are that stupid I can't help you or feel sorry for you."
Then he went on to say "Soon as Joe is out we will start praying for the downfall of Harris."
Then to close service he brought the church to the altar to pray for the removal of the Democrats from power.
Doesn't sound like it. Sounds like you have a political pundit playing church.
Pathetic.
Of course.
It would be a whole lot better if he was concerned about the Kingdom of God. Instead of giving you bread, he is giving you stones... because you like stones. They are good for throwing.
As a Brit, I don't have a dog in the US political fight.
If I had a vote in America I might well vote Republican.....
BUT
This says everything about why Christianity is falling apart in the USA (as it already has done over here).
Let the preacher preach the Gospel!
Politics is not the Gospel!
The fact you don't agree fills me with joy.
We don't need any stones. We all 2A people if the legal justification necessitates. You should see the fine collection of firearms that come to church every service.
Totally agree with this part, but, IMHO, a massive reason we are in this state today is because too many consider that the “CHRISTIAN” should not be concerned with politics.
If we had turned loose with a howl way back when M. O’Hare started her anti-prayer crusade, or the USSC decided killing babies was a “constitutional” right, or Larry Flynt was pushing his “HUSTLER” crusade — who knows — perhaps we might, just might, have a sane government today.
Christians have made it too easy for preachers to avoid any controversial issues by sticking strictly to the simplicity of the “love of God”, while ignoring the judgement of God.
If sin is not confronted head-on, and dealt with, it will always out yell you and appear to be a whole lot stronger than it really is at any given point.
So I say KUDOS to any preacher who has the guts to call it like it is.
Again, IMHO, this is nothing more that following Jesus’ example when He whupped up on the desecraters of the temple.
Keep it up “good preacher”, whoever you are!!!!!! And may your tribe increase mightily.:Thumbsup
Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, to be accomplished in a little over a year; assuming we are not completely crushed by the demons before then.
This preacher is simply telling what is true, since so many would never know, if depending on MSM for their info.
If they KNOW, & still are dems, then he’s right, they are beyond any but God’s help.:(
We have a lot of people in our church who enjoy shooting sports and conceal-carry. That group of people includes Republicans, Democrats, and independents. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but we are not obsessed with firearms, nor find our security in them.
Matthew 28:19
Go therefore and make disciples of aal the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; except for liberals.
How many salvations your church seeing?
We seeing a lot. Baptizing a lot.
We are not going to have church members supporting abortion or abortion candidates. We won't tolerate church members supporting LGBTQ candidates.
Look at it as a church discipline issue.
Christians should be concerned about politics, but the focus of church is not trying to redeem the fallen governments of the world, but to advance the Kingdom of God through discipleship and serving the community.
It was opposition to government-mandated and led "prayer" in schools, something that Baptists have traditionally opposed from the beginning.
If our churches were strong (in terms of the Kingdom of God), we would have the moral authority to change our culture. The government always follows the culture.
That definitely happens in many places. That is mostly because a reduced 'gospel of atonement' oriented toward "going to Heaven" is preached, instead of the fullness of the gospel oriented toward discipleship, practical holiness, and serving one's community.
We also have a lot of preachers who inhabit pulpits as a career and are afraid to step out of line with their denominational influencers/king-makers for fear of losing their position in their local church, or not moving to bigger churches with fatter paychecks and more perks.
There are also a significant number of pastors who do not meet the biblical standards for a pastor, since they are quick-tempered (1), bullies(2), intemperate(3), and contentious(4). We see a lot of that here on Baptistboard from persons who tell us they are pastors.
If your favorite example of the ministry of Jesus is Him cracking a whip, you need to read the rest of the Gospels very carefully. It was a rare thing for Him to crack a whip. Almost the entirely of the rest of His ministry was serving and teaching others.
-(Emphasis in quote mine)
I was pretty much in agreement with you till here!!!
Just like the left/progressive/dem/liberal, or whatever your claim is as to political leanings, you take a quote and manipulate the meaning to something NOT said, & then argue against the alteration!!!!
You're not a reporter for CNN or ABC or some other MSM entity, are you??? :Rolleyes
Two good descriptors are "moderate" and "independent." I do not align with the standard labels.
Nothing is manipulated. However you are expressing a theme that is common in our Christian world -- we want Jesus to be a "tough guy," like the movie version of John Wayne or (as some have believed) like the television version of Donald Trump.
No, I'm just warning against that viewpoint. I have faced it a few times when teaching youth at church. When I was teaching on John 8, a number of students were upset with John 8:59 when John tells that Jesus "hid himself" and left the Temple grounds when the people tried to stone Him. They were extremely upset that Jesus didn't fight them or use His power against those trying to kill Him. They wanted Him to be a tough guy, but (as they put it), He "ran away."
That conflicted with their conception of manliness and what Jesus was like. They envisioned Him as a "tough guy."
Nope. Just someone very concerned about the way we portray Jesus. I'm hearing way too much about Jesus with a whip and nothing about Him washing feet with a basin and towel. The Christian church in the United States is obsessed with worldly power and authority, looking for political saviors and "tough guys" to make the church relevant. They don't have time for Jesus, unless they can envision Him holding a whip to go after persons they believe are their enemies.
Remember, this is all in the context of Reynold's church, where there is open contempt for "Democrats," where they have "run off" all the ones that used to be part of the congregation.
When one's god hates the same people you hate, you have likely created a god in your own image.
I know more than a few. You need to broaden your circle of friends.
I have been shot at. I also own firearms and used to conceal-carry.
Moreover, I know the limits of firearms and that most people don't know what they are doing and are likely to be a danger to themselves or others in a bad situation when the adrenaline hits.
