WASHINGTON– The Rev. Billy Graham’s Web site has removed an article labeling Mormonism a cult, a move that follows Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s visit to the evangelical leader.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported the disappearance of the article earlier. The article had said that “Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists,
Scientologists, and others” were cults. Mr. Graham, 93 years old, met with Mr. Romney last week, on Oct. 11 at his home in Montreat, North Carolina. Mr. Romney soon after addressed a crowd in Asheville, N.C.
Shameful if this was done on purpose. And if on purpose, it highlights just how much of an idol this election has become when folks will remove the truth that may keep someone from stumbling into an eternal lake of fire in order remove reason for some to not vote for a candidate of choice.
I posted this question in the other thead.
What does Billy Graham's opinion of Mormonism have to do with the electing a President of the United States?
It just highlights what I've been saying for months: Christians are going to some extreme lengths to make sure Romney is portrayed positively so as to not take votes away from him.
And if Billy Graham no longer feels that Mormonism is a bad thing, which some might imply from this action, then some may start to take a second look at Mormonism.
If done on purpose, he's displaying the same level of wickedness that others on this board are displaying by basically branding Romney's faith is irrelevant.
It's the very same focus on this world and not God's eternal Kingdom that is displayed by any Christian who tries to justify Romney's morality while ignoring that he worships a false god.
Or maybe he understands that a President need not believe as he does and can still be qualified.
Or he does not want this to be a magnet for controvery more than it apparently is now.
Or he's decided that he wants to appear as neutral as possible.
Of topic, but do I remember correctly that Obama has never visited Graham since becomming President?
It's been up for years. It wasn't put up for political purposes. Why take it down to keep it from being a magnet of controversy? And take it down right after you meet with the candidate.
You need to stop. If he were trying to appear neutral, he would have left it the same way it's been for years.
You remember incorrectly but that's no surprise that folks on here have selective memory when it helps them make their point.
Thanks, I seemed to think I read a story a while back that mentioned Obama refusing to visit B.G., but wasn't sure if it was true or if I was thinking of someone else.
There was no point to be made.
It was a simple question.
Then my apologies. But if there was no point to be made, one would think there was no reason to bring it up in conjunction with the removal of the statement and Romney's visit being discussed. I'm just saying.
As I'm pretty sure Billy Graham doesn't maintain his website, I would like to hope that he didn't know it was done. But the statement given by his chief of staff coupled with what he told Romney after their meetings seems to point toward him being well aware of what was transpiring.
I worked for Billy for 7 years. He has shown his true colors and chosen yet another cult over Jesus, a cult that denies the deity of Christ, is based on freemasonry a day teaches that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. He has shown himself to be antichrist, not the Antichrist.
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
