From the Opening Post (OP) on page 1 which was

David R. Irvine who was quoting a well-known
but unspecified candidate:
//One well-known candidate stated the dilemma
this way: "How can I take an absolute position
opposing torture when many people believe
that it works and that it's worth it if it prevents another 9/11?"//
Cancer of torture at Abu Ghraib has metastasized

Ed_411: // "Torture is one of the most ineffecient methods of collecting
information." -
As does tragic_pizza.
Funny how many of the posters are ignoring the fact that Conservatives and Liberals are in agreement on this. -
Torture and humiliation are NOT American values.
Torture and humiliation are NOT Christian values.
Torture and humiliation are NOT human values. -

This great country is not being dismantled by liberals but by far right conservatives. Instead of pursuing al Queda in Afghanistan, this administration chose to invade Iraq, an action that is completely unsupportable. In fact, to justify the invasion of Iraq, which the Neo-Cons had recommended for 10 years, Bush lied to the American people. Is the nation safer from terrorism than it was on 9/10? No. The tremendous amount of money spent on "homeland security" has been wasted. Nothing has really been done to protect America. But that never was the objective. The objective was to occupy Iraq for the long term and to seize its oil reserves. -
Except, SAN, George Bush is not a conservative, let alone far right. Neither is Karl Rove or Grover Norquist, two of his chief advisors. They are very left of center on most everything, especially when it comes to national security, our borders, free world trade, big government, to name a few. If GWB and his cronies are indicative of far right conservatives, then true conservatives must be ultra, ultra conservatives. GWB et al only appear to be conservative when compared to the Hollywood and media elite, but they are a million miles away from being "far right conservatives."

I see another inane attempt to place the President as a liar. Geesh! I supose that congress was a liar long before the President came on the scene. Silly really.
The op ignores that terrorists never have cared for the Geneva Convention nor bothered to follow it. It jumps from one event to by American troops and places all blame from that point. While it is in the midst of avoiding some very pertinent facts it continues this fallacy by failing to acknowledge the presses part of this action when they placed the pictures all over the air waves all across the world. But hey lets not let pertinent facts get int he way of our mischaracterization an malicious maligning. Because then it wouldn't work out very well would it. -

Quote:
The essential fundamentals of traditional fundamentalism:
1. the inspiration and infallibility of scripture
2. the deity of Christ (including His virgin birth)
3. the substitutionary atonement of Christ's death
4. the literal resurrection of Christ from the dead
5. the literal return of Christ in the Second Advent
(From THE FUNDAMENTALIST PHENOMENON,
Second Edition /Baker House, 1986/ page 7)
That being the case, I will be happy to be despised as a "fundamentalist" by anyone at all. -
Tragic, which of these fundamentals do you stand opposed to?
