What method do you use to catalog your personal library?

The memory method, but the system seems to be failing! ;) :(
Actually, that is basically the method (or lack thereof) that I have used - put similar books in the same area (history, commentaries, by topics, etc.). This worked fairly well until the size grew beyond my capacity to remember where I have placed some of the seldom used books. But the size also keeps me from tackling it to resolve the situation. Hope someone comes along with an easy fix! :D -
My pastor has his alphabetically by author through his office.
Mine are in topical sections.
Children's books, curriculum, bible, missions, etc. -
The folks at ABE books offer free book tracking software, called home base.
Click here to get to the section to download the software: Home Base Software
Make yourself your own card catalogue.
It helps, but it takes awhile to enter the data in the database.

I read all my books, remember the contents, and then I don't have to refer to them again.

Yeah, but some of us read books you don't have to color :D

Jeff - ABE is a great place in general, and their software comes in handy.
I created a custom Access database for my personal library.
I also use Citation to index all of the sources I use in academic writing. It's a real time saver.
