WOW! I feel so loved! :love2:

Brent has appointed himself my personal gopher and with all the food you're bringing in, Rob - I feel like a queen!

I've never had this much attention and waiting on! I don't think it will be hard to stay on the couch (or at least the recliner) today. The numbness has been gone for quite some time and my nose hurts!

My surgeon called me long distance last night to see if everything was all right and gave me his home phone number! WOW!

I told him things were fine, but my nose did hurt when I bent down to pick up a load of laundry......he said, "Don't bend down." Now see! That's why he's the doctor.

I will be glad to get rid of this pressure bandage today and apply a simple dressing! This one impairs my vision and only allows breathing out of one nostril.

I'm not sure if I want to look in the mirror or not, having been warned about the swelling, black eye, etc.

Rob, dear, I am getting awfully hungry. Where did you say you put that bell?

HAGD all and thank you SO much again for the prayers!

    P.S.
    Oasis: Too late. OUCH!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Sue, getting the doc's home phone is a WOW! Pretty cool. You sound quite cheerful this morning, so that is good. Do you have enough books to read? Or are you vegging with the TV today? :D

Laundry? What you mean you washed laundry? Don't try that again, at least until all our backs are turned!

    Breakfast sounds good, Rob!

I am kid free again this morning. Mark it on the calendar, two days in a row! I could get used to this. :)

I'm heading for the sewing machine as soon as I've gotten dressed for the day. I only got the blouse put together yesterday for my new outfit. I then discovered I had failed to pick up some bias tape for the neckline. I have that now, so I'm good to go. Then it'll be on to cutting out Cassie's new outfit, a jacket and skirt made from a synthetic suede that we happened upon at Walmart of all places.

Tony, Winston-Salem is a pretty place, tobacco farms and all. My SIL and her family live just east of Raleigh.

    Ya'll have a good day.

No need to ring M'aam, I'm right here. If the breakfast isn't to your liking, I'm ready to make whatever you want to eat.

I wasn't sure what Brent liked for Snacks, so I brought in Mini-Fajita Bites & Sweet and Hot Orange Wings.

Lunch is Grilled Pineapple and Virginia Ham Sandwiches, Italian Sausage Calzones, and Banana-Pepper Slaw.

Dinner is Angel Hair with Lemon Shrimp and Asparagus, Cheese-Stuffed Meatloaf, Garlicky Mashed Potatoes, 5 Minute Citrus Chicken Salad, and Lime Chiffon Pie (Sugar-Free).

Before Bed Snack is Georgia Peach and Berry Cobbler, and Frozen (Sugar-Free) Vanilla Custard. Coffee and Tea are made and ready to serve.

Smoothies are made & Cold and ready to be served for whatever meal/snack you want them.

The bell is next to the couch, just ring the bell for anything you need.

What do you mean that you're doing Laundry?? I will do the Laundry, Housecleaning, and Dishes.

You're only job is to recover.

Margo...What writing are you doing now? Do you write any short stories or articles for magazines? It is a tough market whether writing articles or books, and especially books. All the very best to you.

    Cheers,

well i go thro stages where i actually am doing a lot of writing, and stages where i'm doing nothing ... not doing much lately, but...

i am doing some freelance things for the newspaper which is a steady if very small income. i'm typing closed court case news, and i do occasional articles for special advertising supplements ... they have themes like pets, babies, weddings, lawn and garden care etc

a while ago i got two small pieces published in magazines ... i had a short 'reader's favorite' I did on The Alcott House in Northern New England Journey (Triple A), and an anecdote in Mature Years

    Thanks Margo.

I also enjoy writing and write a lot of short stories just for the plain enjoyment of writing. The only small children's book I had published some 50 odd years ago, was The Pony that Couldn't....it was about a younf Welsh girl that wanted a pony. Her father was a miner. They used ponies to drive the great wheel that supplied air to the mines. Once they were finished, they either disposed of the pony or gave them away. The father got a pony and had to walk it home through the village...Because of the work done, the pony could not walk in a straight line, so the father walked down the roadway with the pony walking in concentric circles..........expand the story. It was a decent children's book in England at the time.

Now I write children's stories as devotionals over in another forum, Monday thru Friday. I always had a children's story in the morning service before the kiddies went off on their own.

    Cheers, and happy writing,

    Jim

All the rest of yuns.....Hey what can I say???.............

Jim.... when I was young..er...had a QuarterHorse...named Judd(?) ...momma named Him. He loved to RUN!!!! I don't know squat bout jumpers or such but I do remember Horses to this day!! At one time we had 5....used to go on the WagonTrain they have every year in N. Georgia & Western NC. I was in H.S. then but will never forget those days!!!! Mom & POP always took a wagon, & I rode my Judd. I was a Cowboy all the way...including the Winchester on my saddle...for rattlers & such, & yes I had to kill a few thru the years.

    Good morning all,

I must be doing all right 'cause the nose is at the itching stage. I slept on the couch so I wouldn't turn over and land on it like I did the night before. I didn't get much sleep, but at least I didn't hurt it...

At noon today, it will be 48 hours and I can start being more active. I may even be able to cook supper! I had made enough food beforehand so we would have leftovers for a couple of days, but they're getting pretty thin now.

It's hard to believe this is going to take 6 months to heal. I also found out that it was malignant (which is why it came back after being frozen off). I just thank God it's all gone now!

    Time to make coffee,

Oh, Sue! How scary!! I'm so glad I'm going in to see the dermatologist next month for him to look at MY nose. I don't think it's anything serious but I've sunburnned my nose more times than I can count. I now have fallen in love with a new sunscreen from Banana Boat since it's so thick I got NO burns on my nose this year. It's a baby sunscreen that's labelled as "tear free" and it's a 50 SPF. It's the only thing my 3 year old didn't react to this year (very sensitive skin) and NO one burned when they used it. It's just a pain because it's so thick that it's hard to rub in but that's OK if it works.

Today is going to be an easy day for me. Whatever I had seemed to have broken last night around dinner time and I'm feeling so much better but I'm still going to rest. I have to do homeschool with my son and run to the grocery store later since we have just about nothing in the house but I'm just going to do an abbreviated shopping. Just enough to make it through the weekend. DH and DD16 are going to a thing at the high school about choosing colleges and financial aid information - she's a junior and it's time to begin thinking about that stuff. Fortunately, DH is a pastor and on paper, he makes very little money (the housing is paid separately and from what I understand doesn't get figured in on the financial aid), so we should get some decent help. It's hard though, she wants to become a secondary school art teacher and I want her to go to a Christian college. Anyone know of any that have art as a major?? She's too sweet a girl to thrust into the world of a secular college just yet. I think there's a college in Florida that has art but I'm going to have to do some research to find more colleges that might have something. UGH - I SO don't want to send her away! I had her home through 8th grade and took the big step of sending her to public school for high school and in less than 2 years I have to send her away?? **SNIFF** I don't want her to leave!! :( Oh well, we'll pray and she'll be where God wants her to be. **SIGH**

    Good Morning Everyone!

Sue, I'm glad you got that gone! And that you are feeling better. :)

Ya'll quit talking about horses now. My Bitsy has been wanting one for two years and it ain't happening! I have enough creatures in my menagerie and I don't need a horse. Besides, I didn't pay $15,000 for T's last car, I'm not about to put out that much for a horse!

Annsni, I feel for you. Just so you know your not alone, my Cassie is eligilble to attend the Alabama School of Math and Science for the next 3 years. They've sent her several invitations to apply. The problem? It's a boarding school, 6 HOURS away from where we live. I won't even let her go to the homecoming dance this Friday and she wants to go where? Ain't, ain't, ain't happening!

I do recognize that I don't get to choose her college, though I've already begun the campaign. :D What we want is for her to attend our local community college for the first two years and then transfer to the universtiy where my husband works (she'll get an employee discount). She's looking at pre med. (sigh, do you know how expensive that is?) If we get our way, she'll be at home almost forever.

But, what will probably happen is that she gets a full scholarship to some university half way across the country and I'll have to give her up. :(

Ya'll have a good day! Pray for Chris, he is at school but struggling with his migraine.

    Good morning all,

Ann and Cindi: You bring back many memories of sending my own kids off to college.

It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Actually, I didn't have time to suffer through the 'empty nest' syndrome. By the time my 'baby' left home, the grandbabies started arriving!

Now, what's worse than sending your kids off to college? Having them move away and take your grandbabies with them!!!

I slept better last night than I have in the last few days and I know that's going to make my whole day go better!

I was called to sub on the 'corner' yesterday afternoon and I went. It was only for 30 minutes and I think it did me good to get out of the house.

I also cooked supper and did dishes last night, so I am well on my way to 'being on the mend'. I will certainly be glad to get these stitches out though - my nose itches!

    Time for coffee,

    Good Morning Everybody,

Sue: Can't keep a good Woman down huh? It's great that you're feeling better[itchy nose and all], just don't overdo it; you did have a surgical procedure It's a little more serious then a "boo-boo" that you can heal with a kiss and a band-aid. Yes, your lesion was malignant, but it is gone and you are Cancer Free. I'd say take a bow, but that's not the best thing for you to do right now. How about if We give you a bow instead?

Cindi: Praying for Chris, and for you. Migranes not only affect the sufferer's world, it can rock yours too.

I brought in Egg & Sausage Breakfast Strudel, and Sausage Apple Quiche for breakfast. Enjoy.

I took my grandson Jack (6) to the doctor yesterday. he had a severe sore throat, and I suspected Strep-Throat. I was right, so he's home from school today. Our doctor is out of town for a few days, so he has another doc covering for him. There was no problem getting an appt. to get him in. I told the nurse what the problem was, and that I wondered if he might have Strep-Throat. She wrote the info. down, and soon the doctor came in. I noticed that he was kind of brusque, and coldly-clinical but I've seen that before, and it's no problem. This doc treated Jack with all the compassion and concern you would show to a piece of trash. I could feel myself doing a slow-burn, but kept quiet. He did a swab, and the results came back + for Strep. He wrote a Rx, then turned and asked me in a snotty tone "Anything Else?". Jack had to go to the bathroom, so I told him to go and then wait outside the door, I had some questions for the doc. Jack went out, and shut the door, I walked to the door, then turned around to face the doc and asked him what was the reason for acting like a jerk in front of a patient? He told me he didn't appreciate parents making medical diagnoses, that was his job. I blew up. So that's the reason to treat a sick 6 yr. old like a dog? Does that make you feel like a real "professional" to play mind games with a sick kid? I told him that I had a real treat for him, I'm 54 and have my Masters Degree in Psychology, I asked the doc if he wanted to play "mind games" with me? I told him if he did I'd turn his mind into a pretzel. The doc demanded to know who my superior was. I told him that I didn't have one, I wasn't sure if I even have an equal. I left.
I know it was a very poor witness, but I am not going to have my Grandson treated like a dog when he needs help, and compassion. I'll let my regular doc know what kind of help his buddy provided. For all the good his treatment was he might as well have given Jack a piece of gum, and called it a day. If I have to go to his buddy again, I'll go to ER and wait 4 hrs. instead. End of rant.

I'm not sure that contrues a bad witness, Rob. Sometimes we have to stand up for the truth and the truth is that we as parents/grandparents know when something is wrong with our kids. The docs can get over being in a snit about. I tell our docs all the time what I think is wrong with my kids. If I think they have strep, I tell them to do a strep test. It's really no big deal here. I've had them do strep tests when the only symptom my kids had was a sore throat! I'm either right or wrong and it is MY buck!

Okay, now that I have help Rob rant, I'll say: Good Morning Everyone!

Ya'lls prayers worked yesterday! Chris not only made it through the day, but he was also able to handle a karate class. This was his first karate class in almost 2 months! I am so hoping that the new med is going to be the "cure".

Today's prayers need to be for Cassie. Evidently I fell down on the job. I knew her algebra teacher wasn't communicating with me, but I thought she was communicating with Cass. Wasn't happening. Not only did Cass fail the mastery test Wednesday, but she also hadn't made up 4 out of the 9 grades the teacher took this past 4 weeks. Then the teacher says, "even if she made perfect scores on all the makeup work she still wouldn't move up to the next section." Well! Perhaps if the teacher had ensured that Cass had all the materials to makeup the work like I had asked over and over again, she wouldn't have failed the mastery test! We didn't have this problem with the teacher who taught her in the last section and she missed just as much school.

I suppose I should have walked myself into the school and talked to the teacher face to face, but Cassandra herself was talking to the teacher and I thought all was well. Hmph, the next who doesn't answer my e-mails will find me waiting outside her door.

As it is I complained to the principal and counselor and will wait and see what happens. Cassandra is terrified that this one grade will toss her out of the honors program and that stress is giving her a migraine. Migraines will lead to more absences and the cycle will start again. Can't win for losing.

The good news is that it is FRIDAY!!!!!! So what's up for the weekend?

You're welcome to use it Sue, I just hope you never have to.

Usually I think of a smart come-back hours later, when it's too late.
