Got a hit and run post this morning - have to leave in 10 minutes and still need to dry my hair. I have to work today and it should prove to be a long day since I have to do this Sunday's service AND as much of next week as I can since I'll be bandaged up a lot (no using my right hand for atleast the next 2 weeks which makes computer work interesting) and we also have a seminar for children tomorrow on salvation, communion and baptism (why don't we, as a corporate church, teach children these things like the Catholic Church does in CCD and such?? We decided to do this periodically - children with atleast one parent - preferrably both). I also need to work on my testimony for Sunday - I'm giving a testimony to God's faithfulness through adoption - I was adopted as a baby and there are some pretty neat things that came out of that.

Well, it will probably be tonight before I hop back on. Have a wonderful day all!!

Well I'm miffed! I ordered snow not freezing rain! I don't know anyone who would order freezing rain. At least we'll get through the weekend in the 60's and 70's. Then storms on Monday and freezing rain after that. I'm glad that is only a maybe. I know all about ice storms and they are not fun. I hope Thankful and Ed Edwards are prepared for the one that is supposed to hit their area today. Sue, what are they saying for Illinois?

    Good morning everyone!

Seven school days in a row and still no migraine children!

Like Rob, my cupboards are bare. So bare that the kids got together a list! I'm headed out shopping in just a few minutes. I have a pair of pants I need to hem first, but I may wait and do those when I get back.

Ya'll have a good day and stay warm!

    Good morning, folks!

Well below freezing here, but clear skies and a sprinkling of snow on the ground. Barry nearly slipped on the driveway last night taking out the trash, the snow had melted and then frozen -- really dangerous. There will be accidents today....

Today is the day when Gina, God bless her, takes Chris for the day. That means we can work here in the den without interruption. It also means I can fix a special brunch for Barry, which I used to do all the time when Chris was 'in school', but which sort of had to cease when he got too old for school and we had him 24-7! Chris tends to circle the table staring at any food he wants and then grabbing quick when no one is looking (some parts of his brain don't seem to be retarded at all!). Barry calls him 'the pirhana'.

So Fridays are special for us. Our Sabbath, I guess. Lots of nap time, which I plan to make use of today!

    God bless you all.

71 and sunny in South Georgia.
We've got forecasted 70s for the next 3 days. 60s Tuesday, and Wednesday is when the cold front will get here, low-to-mid 50s for highs and 30s on the low end.
Snow or ice would be like shock and awe for this part of the country!!!

Sue, glad your surprise for Brent went well!

Whew! I'm home! The kids can no longer complain that there is no food in the house cause I bought 2 buggies full! Okay, one buggy only held water, soda, milk and catlitter. I never can figure out how I can put all that stuff in one buggy, but when I get to the checkout it takes two to repack it in! I finally found some decent fruit that didn't cost me an arm and a leg, but only because Walmart comps prices.

So you back yet Rob? :D If'n you are, tell me how to cook this nice pork roast I found. I've fixed them before, but we don't eat much pork and I can't remember what I did.

    Gayla, how'd you do that?

Well, I don't get to see Brent play basketball tonight after all. The game was canceled due to the winter storm warning we have out until 6:00a.m. tomorrow morning.

Freezing rain/sleet/ice. I don't blame the other team for not wanting to drive home in that on the highway.

    Movie time!

Hi Blessed -- we were going to take Gina's oldest out for dinner tonight but it's icy here, too. Crystal clear, with crystal being the operative word! Gorgeous and dangerous all at once. The news is full of the fender benders going on around town. The mud in the pasture is frozen stiff!

BUT, we got a bunch of Barry's emails answered today. He talks and I type...so that's good.

    Definitely winter, eh?

Well, we are all tucked in here at home.
Major emergency warnings for all of OK. 65 degrees yesterday evening and just coatings of ice and sleet everywhere now. They say the worst is yet to come.

But we still do have power.

Chicken and noodles in the crockpot tomorrow.

You'll be in our prayers tonight, Karen. It sounds from the news like you have some major garbage headed your way. Glad you are warm.

    God bless.

    Good morning all,

It is just a mess outside! From the looks of the weather map, a lot of states are being hit by this winter storm.

Helen: Like you said, "beautiful and dangerous". All of our limbs are covered with ice and the road is like an ice-skating rink. It's too dark to actually get outside and see what's blown down.

It's 32º right now, so we are getting the mix - freezing rain and sleet. It's the same to me. The sleet is frozen before it hits the ground and the freezing rain freezes as soon as it hits the ground. Either way we end up with ice.

We lost power momentarily yesterday evening. I don't know if we have any major power outages anywhere close, but we did during the ice storm we had a month or so ago. Some people were without power for over a week and it was COLD. It doesn't ake much ice and wind to bring a power line down.

Because of my oxygen, the medical supply company sent a form to CILCO (who supplies both our gas and electricity) so this house would be on a 'first fix' basis should we lose power. Knowing this town, I doubt it will make much difference.

The bad part is this storm, in various stages, is going to hang around through Monday. It's not just a 'one night' thing. Oh well, we'll deal with whatever comes our way - always have...

Hot chocolate sure sounds good this morning. There's a big vat of it on the counter - help yourself!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It's 30 degrees here, so we're getting the wintry mix too. I was watching "Today" this morning and they showed video of all the damage this storm is causing. It stretches from Texas to Illinois, and they say the worst is yet to come. I wish I lived closer Sue, I bring over and setup my extra generator for you. I've got two-one for us, and one for whoever needs one in an emergency.

Thats one reason why I stocked up at the grocery yesterday. We've got food, bottled water, batteries, and firewood.

I brought in Pancakes, Waffles, Maple Syrup, Bacon and Sausage, Homefried Potatoes, Sausage Gravy and Homemade Biscuits. Enjoy.

Hopefully tomorrow we can make it to the church we were going to visit last sunday before the Gkids got sick.

Today is going to be an easy, laid-back day[for a change]. After I get my chores done, my day is my own.

Lunch is Beef Pot Roast Sandwiches au Jus in the crockpot, and dinner is Lime-Pork Fajitas, and Horseradish Ham-Potato Bake.

I hope everyone stays safe and warm! I please don't send any ice our way!! lol

Well, we got home late last night after helping our son and new dil move her stuff into their new place. It is amazing how much stuff a college kid can accumulate in 4 years. Plus all the wedding gifts! They are really crammed into that apartment! It was good to see them, tho, and that they are so happy.

Sue, hot chocolate sounds good, even tho it's 51 degrees outside, and going to be nearly 70 today. I still want a cup!

    Have a good day, all!
